I have the imported DVD of the first IY film (with the bad English subtitles -- it's probably a bootleg), and I was wondering if anyone knows what the stuff at the end of the DVD is. When I go to the 'chapter search' menu (at least I'm pretty sure that's what it is -- I read zippo Japanese) there are five chapters within the movie itself, and then a sixth chapter that seems to contain

a) a half-hour program (unsubbed, so I couldn't follow the dialogue) featuring clips from the film and also clips from episodes through about 54, interspersed with Shippo jumping up and saying something from time to time;

b) what appear to be trailers for the film, although they feature a couple of sequences not in the film itself (such as Kagome grabbing Tetsusaiga and attacking Inuyasha with it) alongside sequences from the film; and

c) what might be a trailer for the second film [I'm guesing here because it prominently featured the English number 2 and sequences that I'd never seen before in any episode].

Any clue what this stuff is? Any idea where I might find an English translation of it?

Ooo! I got that on mine too! I have no earthly idea what it is though... maybe the stuff not in there was cut out or in another movie or sumptin like that... i dunno... it is weird though...

I think that is the trailer to the 2nd movie,
although I am not sure.
It was pretty cute to see Shippou jumping up and down though.

There does not exist an official DVD release of the first movie with subtitles, or in region coding other than 2. So yeah, you got yourself a nice bootleg. @_@ Can I talk you into buying the real DVD when you've got money?


The Chibi Has Spoken

Sure, I'd buy an official DVD of the first film -- if it a) had English subtitles and b) would play on my DVD player. Same for the second film. Anyone know of plans to release such a thing? Or does it already exist?

Just to clarify -- I wouldn't have bought the DVD had I known that it was a bootleg, and I intend to wait for the fansubbed second film rather than purchasing a DVD which will probably be a bootleg. If I spoke Japanese I'd certainly go for the official DVD release, but I took the wrong language in college (not a lot of German anime around, is there?)

Chibi Ruby has a great site, and you can actually get there by clicking her sig. It has tips on how to make sure it's not a bootleg when you buy it. I wrote a FAQ's about Movie 2 if you check it, it will tell you when the 2nd movie will be subbed by AF-F and FGF but it has already been done by Anikraze. They used a VHS tape of the movie but AF-F and FGF are waiting for the DVD release. Go to Chibi's page by clicking here. Then go to Frequently Asked Questions at the top of the page. Then on the java window you will see where it says "acquiring the series" You should be able to find all the answers to your questions there.
