Full Version: Inuyasha Forum Rules - READ THIS FIRST!

Okay, forum rules everybody--not to rain on your parade or anything, but we could all get into trouble pretty quick here happy.gif;

1) Spoiler Etiquette. I can't count the number of times I've been accidentally spoiled on a forum by a well-meaning rabid fan who posts a juicy lil tidbit of new info as a response. Inevitably, this WILL cause a flame war. So, here's the rules:

Got something to say about an ep/movie/manga chapter that has not yet come out as a fansub? Great. Just make sure you put "Spoiler!" in the subject if you're starting a new topic! This saves everyone a bunch of grief. And whatever you do, don't give away the spoiler in the subject line!!

Got something to say about an ep/movie/manga chapter that has not yet come out in the fansubs AS A RESPONSE to someone's post? This is a bit trickier. A lot of people try to do this trick:
Warning, spoiler!
-
-
-
(Spoiler)

-or something similar, but it still causes trouble. Why? B/c then the ppl who don't want spoilers still have to try and scroll past it to read the rest of the thread. So, here's the deal: when you want to put a spoiler response, change the font color to white, and tell people to highlight the selection to read it. Example:
Highlight this section to read the spoiler:
Spoiler goes here!

That should keep EVERYBODY happy, especially me--if there's one thing I hate, it's spoilers ^^

Note: For those of you using another PhpBB theme, be aware that you might be able to read spoilers anyways. This sucks, and it's sort of upsetting...so I guess I just beg you in general:

AVOID BIG SPOILERS IN RESPONSES IF POSSIBLE!

Remember, there's always the friendly Private Message option if you want to answer somebody's question that way ^_~

2. NO FLAMING of ethnicities/sexuality/nationality/etc
Period. No racial or nationality slurs, epithets against lesbian/gay/bisexual people, slamming other fansub groups - nothing. We're trying to make everyone feel welcome here, and hate speech does NOT make that happen. The moderators do reserve the right to edit or delete your post if you feel the need to use hate speech, and we will not bicker with you about it. You can disagree with someone without resorting to "you suck because you're a damned __".

(And be warned, the first idiot who tries to start a thread saying "Jakotsu sucks because he's a f*king h*mo f*ggot" will have me come down on their ass like a ton of bricks. My team of rabid attack wolverines lives in breathless anticipation of that day ^_~ )

3. No spam.
We hate spam. You hate spam. Please, DON'T DO IT! Spam on a forum is when somebody posts a link or message to an outside website without anyone else asking or caring. Obviously, there can be some leeway here: if you're posting a link to a cool webcomic or if you're making a reference to something it's a good idea to quote it...but please, don't do advertisements for the "19.99 Julienne Fry maker! at saveubigbucks.com".

And yes, I know everybody wants others to come visit their personal websites, but please...if you must plug your site, put it in your sig file. Don't start a thread saying "come to my website!" I will delete it.

4. No explicit adult / illegal / naughty content.
This is important, since we do have lots of minors running around this forum. Sorry folks, but we can't have nudity or graphic sex around here--if you post fanart, people have to have their naughty bits covered, and please refrain from posting roleplay/fanfic/posts that get into the nitty-gritty. That's not to say we're going to censor every single little thing about sex (believe it or not, we at FgF DO like sex ^_~) but be aware that your kid brother or sister could be reading this! And please, be grown-up about it: no one really cares if you think "Huh-huh. Sango has giant gazongas."

Also, no in depth talk about drug use/trafficing, stealing, vandalism, what you did with your girlfriend last night, etc...I don't care what you do with your life, but please, keep the details out of the forum. The moderators do reserve the right to edit or delete posts for the above offenses, and we will.

5. No begging for episodes
Yes, we are fansubbers. Yes, episodes of many series exist on the internet. But this is not the place to beg us to send you __ episode! Most questions about getting episodes can be answered in the FAQs at anime-4ever.net or fangirlfriday.com...the forum is just here for people to have fun.

6. And that's it! HAVE FUN!!!
Inu-Pancake
*guilty* Kay about the spoiler etiquette, but will that white font color work for people using different themes for phpbb as well? (saw the select theme option on the register page)
MMD
Forgive me--I broke them all already @_@

Sound like decent rules, especially since I don't plan on breaking any of them.
SuperRob1
Still don't think the Spoiler Rule will work as intended. People actually following a process.

Well its better than no process.

Patrioil
Of course he's a man! I say, who also got fooled.
I've seen his bare chest. And, oh yes, it was a man all right.
Plus... look at Jakotsu's poses and his legs,
I mean, if you look at it it's kinda obvious he's a guy.

Yes...we are absolutely 100% sure Jakotsu is a guy. Why? For one, although Jakotsu has a female voice actress, he still uses a lot of primarily "masculine" speech: he refers to himself with a very rough, masculine pronoun. Also, if you look closely, you can definitely tell that he is flat-chested and he does have an Adam's apple. (The Adam's apple was apparently cause for much debate in the channel). Don't worry, you're not the first person to be confused about it...we should probably put it in a FAQ or something.
Vision
you know what... everyone dies at the end of Inuyasha...i didnt want to say but just to spite you i will spoil evrything... j/k

Are you aware that you just did?

Don't everyone here read the rules?
No oneliners are allowed,
and I myself is getting more and more pissed.
I'm tired of telling ppl to stop with it,
oh well... *sigh* I hope you'll all stop it,
in the end... *sings a moody sad song*

Ok, for all I know this may be considered blasphemy, but just so long as it's not all someone posts (if that was the case then yeah, I can see the problem), what's wrong with the occasional one-liner? Sometimes it's the only kind of post that makes sense. If someone asks a question that can be answered in one or two sentences, rambling on afterward just so the post won't be considered a one-liner can be kind of pointless, maybe even worse for the discussion than the one-liner would have been. Just pondering here... huh.gif

I'm sure the counter to that argument would be, "If you are going to ask questions that have an answer of the length of one line, then go on mIRC and ask it there." Sure, I would use mIRC if I could, but I can't. It's not that I don't know how. I do know how. It is that I really can not use it because I am at work. They do not appreciate downloading programs and installing them on the computers for personal use. Our computers are scanned every single day for a security check to make sure there is no such software on our systems. dry.gif

Plus, I rarely ask questions, generally I respond and try to make my response of more than one line. I very very very rarely browse the forums from home because I save it for work so that I have something to do when I run out of filing.

lol@ raven. Basically, one liners can be short, sweet, and to the point! No need to pop a blood vessle over them. There are bigger problems like whats happening in other parts of the world to worry over, then one liners.

I try not to break the rules, and I very much hope that I don't end up on the other side of an admin's/mod's wrath.

The forum rules are very agreeable with me, and are very similar to the rules of my home forums.

I just have one question... What makes one liners so unlikeable? I can understand if there's a thread about Goodyear tires and someone posts "frogs" and that's it... But sometimes one liners are all that's needed. =\
Also, I can find no where in the rule list that says that one liners are breaking the rules...

Please don't hate me, just curious.

Well, when you do an obnoxious oneliner,
you'll take up the bandwidth of the AF board.
This is not a chatting room, but for opinions,
and "I agree" doesn't quite qualify as that...
If you don't have anything to say here,
don't say anything at all or go on mIRC. ^^
About 700 ppl hang out on #animeforever,
and they're quite talkative (aka me). tongue.gif

Oh, and read Accela's post under Bakadeshi's...

On the other hand, AF-F is paying for the bandwidth and storage space, so I think it's fair for people to respect their rules. Although on the one-liner thing, I think as long as it adds something to the discussion and isn't just something pointless they should be alright (but then, that's not the sort of thing the rule's meant to discourage...)

I didn't really catch if we're aloud to swear and cuss. Are we? Not at people of course, just talking or something.
DragonmasterSSJ3
Nice rules i can agree to them.
