THERE IS NO INUYASHA ON ADULT SWIM MON-THURS!!! i cant believe they took one of their best shows off.... o well at least i have the whole series so far in subs... but i did like watching the english too...
Patrioil
I don't find this topic that important.
Everybody doesn't live the US...
Isn't there a topic about this on GA?

And hey, you americans, ^_~
at least you got Inuyasha,
and a lot of other anime! Yeah!
I live in Sweden... yep yep,
where the only anime is
Sailor Moon, pokémon and Digimon.
And the only translated manga is,
Dragon Ball and One Piece...
Be happy and dun complain!
Your precious Inuyasha is returning in August, ne!?

... sorry...
JoOjOoBeAnS
I dont watch Adult swim, theres nothing "adult" in there. I want to burn down cartoon network.
swoosh870
im not complaining.... it just gave me a reason to stay up late... i still got all the subbed eps...
RainaWallis
Actually, Cartoon Network is doing the "We'll air the entier series over again in a few weeks when we have new episodes to add to the lineup."

So Inuyasha will be back, once they finish dubbing new eps. smile.gif In the meantime... you can always download the /latest/ episodes from us... wink.gif
JimmyV
-Sigh-

It will be back August 25th with "new" episodes starting from episode 37. Up to 92 has been dubbed, and CN has extended their contract -past- episode 52 to 68 as the ratings are so high on it.

Also I'm fairly sure it will get a 12:00am slot instead of its 12:30am slot.

I feel like the lone avenger, I must have posted this exact message on at least 3 boards and about a dozen other places where it was asked....if only people would search about first...

EDIT: Changed the post to reflect the info from "Long---Shot" below smile.gif
Long---Shot
actually JimmyV they have already extended their contract and are showing eps 37 through 68 for fall season. Thats 32 eps.

Its also been said that they just got done dubbing episode 92. That was about a week ago. rolleyes.gif

Where did you hear that?

To bad that the dubing sucks;
They talk way too slow
half the meaning is lost in the dumbed down translation,
they change names,
and it just generaly makes me hate IY every time I see it.

Subs Kick the living Sh*t out of the dubing CN has going for it.
harriet
Patroil, I feel your pain. *Shudder.*

i DO live in the US, and i still find this topic and all topics like it (which seem to happen weekly) completely retarded. sorry folks, but the programmers of cartoon network are not lurking about on ths board. write them an e-mail if you want to, but there's nothing anyone here can do for you. cn can do whatever the hell they want because as far as tv goes, THEY'RE THE ONLY ONES DOING IT. so yes, it's annoying sometimes when they don't have the eps and replay the series, but hey, there you have it. at least they're doing what they can. i don't mean to be grumpy but there's nothing to be gained from posting these topics that couldn't be better learned from their website or by e-mailing your gripes to them.

I disagree. I think the CN dub job is excellent espeically when you compare it to what's been done in the past. Characters express range, have emotion, and the voices aren't extreamly irratating. The only thing I would say is bad is Kaiade's "yee" line.

I've watched the dub vs the sub (first 32 episodes or whatever) and I don't see how you can say the meaning is changed. The character's and their personalities translate over very well. I hear a lot of people bitching about Kagome, but when you take it for what it is and not a comparisson she actually does a very good job. Of course you're going to like the original VAs better, but the english ones DON'T suck. Some are even better imo (Naraku, Sesshomaru). I'm not saying the Japanese voice actors are bad in those roles, I'm just saying the US style viz has taken with them really kicks ass.

And name changes? They changed some r's to l's, bfd. They have to be able to say names in english without sounding like they're mumbling. And don't even start with Tetsusaiga. From what I've heard here, that's how the script spells it, so you really can't blame them.

They're bringing a series to a wider US audience. Why is that bad? You obviously watch the fansubs anyways. The only thing I don't like is that Ted Turner makes some violence cuts (yea, even for an Adult show, go figure). But CN tries its best to dodge the censors and get away with stuff, so you really can't blame them.

I personally don't believe this topic is pointless. If people didn't know about the changes on Adult Swim, then now they know. And people just might want to give their opinions on what Cartoon Network is doing, right? So why not have a topic like this?

I don't really care about this change. Once I started watching Inuyasha fansubs, I never watched the dubs on cartoon network again. I don't miss them.

I totally agree with Truce. Cartoon network isn't doing a bad job at all. At first (after watching the fansubs) i was like "WTF" but now I think they're doing a great job! Even with Inuyasha's short stints of emotions. I don't really find any of the voices annoying except kagome's .. and that's in both English and Japanese.

All-n-all its nice to have Cartoon Network period.. if it weren't for them, most of us Americans would never have seen IY.
morpherex
Who really cares, raise their hand...

Come on, the last time they shown a new episode was about 3 or 4 months ago, and it's edited.
Long---Shot
dont quote me on exactly what episodes will be showing next but ive been hearing alot lately through the pipeline they will be showing up to ep 68 and not 52.

cartoon network originally bought eps 1-52 at the start of adult swim but they only had 1-36 dubbed so far. about 5 months later CTN decided they wanted to extend their contract for the fall season to ep 68 and apparently they have made plans to buy or have bought the license for eps 69 - to the present becouse
about last week i heard a snipet that Richard Cox said they just got done dubbing ep 92. so that must mean CTN is deffinitly thinking of showing more InuYasha.

again some of this is rumors but there are some facts behind it. just dont quote me on it when if it doesnt happen smile.gif
morpherex
Cartoon Network doesn't DUB it. They get licenses to show it.

Just like DragonballZ, it's FUNimation...

would that Richard Cox be the same owner of Cox Communications? i thought turner cable or whatever held a monoply on cable tv licesnsing (i cant spell it, its to complex sad.gif ) in almost all the states. i was under the impression that cox cable was only the east coast? is that correct?
Sir Lucius
Richard Cox is a voice actor.

Ted Turner owns some television cable stations (TNT, CN, etc)

Some of the shows on those networks feature Richard Cox doing voice roles.

Cox Cable carries the networks that show those shows.

Those are the only relations.

oh, alright. thanks for explaining that. makes slightly more sence now.....

Dub is pretty ok. I mean it does have its flaws. I prefer sub over dub but i do watch dub for the heck of it. but one thing i cant stand is myogas ( spell check?) voice. he sounds like he has some sort of nasal problems. and its pretty annoying. I wish they chose a differnt voice acter for myoga. and theres this one thing in episode 34 after seshoumary swung the tensaiga at jaken, jakens on the ground and sesshoumaru says " Get up chuck". it bothers me.. i know sesshoumaru-sama would never up chuck. otherwise the dub is fine..
Spectrum
'Get up chuck'? I thought he says, "Get up, Jaken"? huh.gif It doesn't make any sense otherwise...

Anyway, that news about CN dubbing up to 92 and airing up to 68 the next time around is awesome. The extra 16 eps almost makes it worth the incredibly long wait...

...almost. dry.gif

I prefer the sub, but I also enjoy the dub, so I'm looking forward to it.
Suikotsu
I heard the dub is good, but its ture the name there is not Kirara, t's Kilala?
Kagome-sama
It's the same thing in Japanese. They don't have a direct translation for that letter because it is combined in Japanese (r's and l's, that is) Maybe that's why there is some confusion about Kirara's name, hmm?
InuYasha Sama
well personally I , and this is just me, i like the jap eps better anyway, the vocies fit better and "kazanna" sounds way cooler than wind tunel plus japanese is like the sexiest language! wink.gif
Chibi_Ruby
Kirara's name is a combination of an "r" and an "l" sound. It does not translate "best" into Kilala--nor into "KiRAARAA." It's not that hard to ask a voice actor, who should be good at pronouncing words correctly since it's their JOB, to say it correctly, especially since Japanese phonetics are a subset of English phonetics and don't require a lot of brainwork.

In Japan, Inuyasha's VA sounds to be more around 20-years-old, but that fits rather well since it makes his voice more gravelly--more like a half-dog-demon. Kagome's VA admittedly sounds a bit mature, but Kagome herself is pretty damned mature for a 15-year-old, so this fits her really well. Her voice is much smoother, less nasal and whiny. All the VAs are appropriate to the character.

When converting this show over to Cartoon Network, dubbed, they picked a VA for Inuyasha who sounds like 28-year-old surfer dude, and Kagome sounds just as air-headed as the girls in dubbed Sailor Moon, which, Accela assures me, is much better subbed. Kaede's script, as a couple have pointed out, is horribly written. This isn't old England, this is old Japan. They could have left it as more normal English, and it shouldn't have mattered to the general U.S. audience. Sesshoumaru's Japanese VA is much more "holier-than-thou" sounding, but I admit that the American VA at least attempts the real pronunciations of some character names.

What really digs at me, though, is how they decided to translate name pronunciations. Why couldn't they leave it as Inuyasha, Kagome, Shippou, Sesshoumaru, etc.?! Nope, nope, they've got to dumb it down for us poor Americans who can't handle it. InuYEAHsha, KaGOme (the emphasis is sort of more on KA in Japan, though technically, there is no real emphasis on one syllable), Ship-o, and Sesshoumarooooo. I know it's hard to hear a difference when reading, but believe me, I get sick to my stomach hearing KaGOme yelling InuYEAHsha's name.
Patrioil
OMG, do they actually say InuYEAHsha?
This is one reason I don't wanna watch the dub.
I hate how they pronounce Akane,
Happousai and Ryouga in Ranma˝...
I can't help it... and Ryouga sounds like someone named Jason.
Ranma's guy voice... is done by a girl trying to sound like a guy.

The Sailor Moon sub is good... but I like the Swedish dub.
I can never like Tuxedo Mask nor Luna's seiyuu in japanese.
The american dub is okay... but I hate Terrie Hawk. >_<
Terrie Hawk is better in Quads, not as Sailor Moon...
I heard they had a better VA for her in the beginning.

Swedish dub is actually pretty good and funny. ^^
American dub doesn't flow well with oral movements,
since the english doesn't go up and down as in Japan.
*looks at her line which turned out to be pretty dirty*
Ahem, anyways, I like Swedish dub better than the american!

There im gonna have to disagree with you...
Terrie Hawks played a great sailor moon compaired to the person that did it for Sailor Moon S and SS(Linda Ballantyne). I just wanted to choke that person out every time i heard her talk. Also every other voice that changed they did a horrible job replacing... And even the one that returned didnt do as good of job as they did in the orignals...What made me most mad was I was watching the show on YTV in canada and the bastards stoped showing it when there were only 2 eps left in SS...
Kagome-sama
I have a question about Adult Swim.

In the beginning, Yu Yu Hakusho aired right before (or sometime near) Inuyasha, really late at night. Then they changed the airing time for Yu Yu Hakusho to earlier, but NOT INUYASHA!!!!! mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif Inuyasha STILL is at the worst time possible for me! ONLY on schoolnights, really, really late!!! It's just not fair... sad.gif
oliveira
I perfer watching the sub titled ones because adult swim on cartoon network just changes a lot of the text and makes it sound all crappy, plus I can watch them when I want and they never get new episodes they run about 32 of them then restart it... I love the sub title text. ohmy.gif What would you rather do... wait for another 32 episodes to come out in english or just egar to watch the current 116 ;p I would pick the 116 I sat down downloading 1-100 a month ago watching EVERY one for 2 days straight happy.gif
