I've always wanted to do a poll, hehe, and I was just curious what everyone thinks about the eventual final battle with Naraku.

Personally, I'm not really sure who would play the biggest role at this point, though I'm leaning towards a tag team of Inuyasha and Kagome, like in The Love That Transcends Time.

And I purposely left off Sesshoumaru in human form, because I knew a lot of people would probably automatically vote for him just because he's him, without thinking it through. And I like the mental image of a giant 3-legged dog biting and shaking Naraku like a rag doll.

Hmm, Kagura from behind, I like that. I'd like to see Inu Yasha in youkai-form too, but that's unlikely to happen (though I'm hoping he WILL transform again some time soon.) Then again, the only likely options are Inu Yasha with Tessaiga or Kagome with an arrow. Then I'd prefer Kagome, cause we've see enough fights with Tessaiga. I'm hoping Kagome will get some more powers soon. A contest between her purifying/holy powers and the power of that monk would be cool.
It would also be fun to have shippo fight. Maybe he accidently swallows a shikon shard .
I wonder if this will be the last story arc BTW. I mean, when the Shicinintai are defeated and the barrier brakes (or Naraku comes out), will he make a final stand? What do you guys think (not know from the manga, but THINK). I kinda think/hope so. His current plan is the greatest one yet (Shicinintai AND the monk's power) I think it would be a fitting ending. I wouldn't want to have tons of filler again after this.

I had to vote for Kagome and her Hamaya.
Even though IY may appear as the strongest,
he will probably (somehow) get K.O'd in the end,
and Kagome will save the world. ^^
She is the main character after all...

And about if this is the last story arc...
I've read some of the manga, not everything,
but I have a pretty good view of what will happen.
There's a LOT more to the story...
I won't say what, of course, but trust me.

I'd like to see Sango do the most damage to him because she suffered the most at his hands (all her people wiped out and her brother being turned against her). Of course I'm sure Inuyasha will probably deliver the final blow, but I want Sango to get her pound of Naraku's flesh, not just sit on the sidelines and watch.

I really dont think there will be one person that does the most damage. Im sure the final punch will be something with the whole gang involved whether lending power to kagome or to Inuyasha. Maybe somehow kagome will channel power from each of them into one arrow or maybe into the tetsaiga. Hell maybe the 2 swords of IY and Sessh will be used as one to destroy him.

I dont know im just tossing out ideas.

im leaning towards InuYasha though.

Actually, I disagree, I think Inuyasha is more of a main character. The series is named after him, after all. And although a lot of people forget this, he's the first character we see, not Kagome. I really think he's the main focus of the series; even though we see things from Kagome's point of view most of the time, Inuyasha is really the star in my opinion.

So I'm leaning toward Inuyasha as well, though I voted for Kagome to do the most damage. I can easily see it happening like Long---Shot said, with everyone lending a little of their power to Kagome's arrow or something. (It's one of the standard anime endings, after all.) I'm betting the Shikon no Tama will have something to do with it as well--maybe the four souls will come into play, with Inuyasha, Miroku, Shippou, and Sango each representing one of the four, and Kagome focusing them all or something like that. (Wasn't something like that hinted at a bit in episode 94 or 95? I can't quite remember.)

The other final battle I can imagine is everyone doing a little damage to Naraku, but no one weakening him quite enough. Then Naraku attacks Kagome, and Inuyasha flies into a rage and finally takes Naraku down with the Tetsusaiga.

I'd be pretty surprised if the final battle didn't turn out to be at least a little like one of those scenarios.

Takahashi once said that she did something different with IY,
since she used a girl as a main character. I don't think it's Inuyasha. ^^
I think she was referring to Ataru, Godai and Ranma,
which we're male main characters (which is usual for shounen manga).
Inuyasha may be the name of the series and he may be in it a lot,
but even though we see him first, doesn't mean hi's the main charrie.
Look at Ranma½ (yet again), it's obvious that Ranma's the main character,
but we see the Tendou family first (in the manga, not the anime).
And we can relate to Kagome a lot more, and see her life the most.

Anyways, back to the destroying Naraku thing.
The lending power thing sounds logical,
but I wanna see Kagome be strong on her own.
To see her prove that she has strong Miko powers.
I think that would be great. ^^ Anyone agree?
She needs protection from IY most of the time,
but it would sure be fun to see that she's actually the strongest,
not Inuyasha nor Sango and Miroku. Even though it may seem so.

Well, I dunno... that may have been what Takahashi intended, but I don't think that's how it turned out. The way I see it, Inuyasha is the character that drives the story. If you took him out of it, there's no way the story would work, whereas if you removed Kagome from the storyline, it would still be possible to do the series. Granted, there wouldn't be any love triangle or time travel involved, but I still don't think she has nearly as much impact on the plot as Inuyasha does.

But like I said, it's just my opinion.

I agree that it would be really cool to see Kagome prove how strong she really is. I'd love to see more of her miko powers (she used to be able to blow demons apart just by touching them, like in the first episode--what happened to that?) develop, and I think she has the potential to be the strongest character. But I still think Inuyasha will actually deal the final blow to Naraku, after she and the others have worn him down. I just don't think it would feel right otherwise.

My theory was that it was the Shikon no Tama inside her,
not her miko powers who made arms fly off that mononoke.

But I agree on that IY is the most likely to defeat Naraku,
even though Kagome would be better... yeah.
I've allways thought of Kagome as the main character.
We don't know that much about Inuyasha yet,
but we know just about anything when it comes to Kagome.
Inuyasha becomes the mystery, and Kagome the detective.

I like the Rin whoops Naraku theory.
But I think it'll mainly be Inu Yasha that takes the biggest chunk out of him.
Does anybody else get frustrated that Kagome seems to forget that she can shoot her bow, sometimes? I don't know how many times I've been sitting there thinking "Just shoot him/her/it!!!" *sigh*

just a quick thought. what role do you think sesshomaru will play in defeating naraku? he has the tensaiga after all.

I think sesshomaru will stand back and keep healing IY and the gang to keep them fighting against Naraku. He could do more damage to Naraku that way than fighting with any sword and i think he will come to realize that.

Ofcourse though Naraku will see that as hes getting his ass kicked and probably target Sesshomaru, knock away the tensaiga, and probably come close to or may actually kill him. I can see that happening for some reason.

Then probably after the battle is over, IY (or maybe Rin if IY is dead too), will pickup the tensaiga and revive everybody thats not moving.

I dunno im just spouting ideas out again. Take it all with a grain of salt.

It's called "Inuyasha" because of it's contents.
Actually it's "Inuyasha: Sengoku Otogi Zoushi",
would "Kagome: Sengoku Otogi Zoushi" sound as good?
Kagome works as a TV for us, we see through her eyes,
a new world and a mysterious "hero" named Inuyasha.
I think it's pretty obvious that Kagome's the maich character,
and Takahashi said that she wanted to do something new,
something easy to draw and with a new fresh feeling.
So she did a girl as the main character.
And I don't think she's talking about Inuyasha...
She's reffering to Ataru, Godai and Ranma, et.c,
male main characters of her which is usual in shounen manga.

Takahashi also knows that to make a good story,
you need a main character people can relate to.
Then she created Urusei Yatsura - with a charrie for everyone!
She learned this while studying with Kazuo Koike.
Inuyasha does not have what it takes to be a main character,
but Kagome do. She has real life problems - while fighting evil!
Inuyasha is pretty sealed up (sorry, wrong word...),
we don't know that much about him and he's a mystery.
Kagome, as every other main character, is the one who finds out,
not the one who needs to be explored - since we know everything.
I'll take it one more time, then I'll post this damn thing:

Well, since there already was a DBZ-style powerup for Ginkotsu (or whatever he's called, the mech), where he was enhanced with machines, and Renkotsu said "I'll make you stronger than ever before", why not stick to that, and have Kagome gain power by getting the last of her soul back from Kikyo when she dies (that alone will please quite a feq ppl it seems ), so we get a picolo-style merging. As I said, I would very much enjoy seeing kagome get stronger. I'd love to see her getting stronger than Inu Yasha, and especially Inu Yasha's response to that. Trying to pretend he's not jellous of her...

Long-Shot, your theory is a..., well, a long shot. I doubt Seshoumaru will become THAT nice. I'm not even sure if it would be fun if he would (though I did think it would be fun if he'd fall in love with a human. No, not Rin ya pervs ). But a special attack that uses both tessaiga and tensaiga, yeah, I'd like that. Actually, I speculated at that too.
But most of all, I want Kagome to get stronger. And then have her take on that mummy-monk. That would leave Inu Yasha to deal with Naraku

Rin and Shippou..... oh yeah..... all of the people will have gotten really wounded by him and only them two will be left. They will kick some major ass...

Well he certainly seems like the main character to me,
He is the one who fights almost everyone nowdays, with little to no help from his posse of 4 weak friends.

I dont think ive even seen the kazaana opened in quite a while.
He has about 3 times as much screen time as Kagome so its hard to say shes the main character.

The author they want but in truth IY is on the screen the most and the story began with his and kikyous thing.

Its too bad sesshoumaru isnt the main character id like that much more.

in the manga we get to see Kagome a lot more.
That's how I see it. And you shouldn't take it from the anime.
We get to see the most things how she sees it, in the manga.
And if Takahashi says she's the main character,
shouldn't you believe her that Kagome really is?

The IY and Kikyou thing is another story...
we often get to hear Kagome's thought and feeling about it.
Like the time she figured it out, and when she wanted Kikyou to die.
And Kagome IS the reincarnation of Kikyou,
so she doesn't know if she'll only be a substitute for her or not.
Inuyasha can have all the problems he want with his lost love,
but Kagome is the one with the real problems, if you ask me.
At least on the romantic side. ^_~

I still say Kagome's the main character.

Here's just IMO what will happen leading up to the Final Battle with Naraku. One, Kikyo will end up being killed off for good by Naraku, once he reappears or whatever. Probably after all the Schinintai are gone. Two, Naraku completes the Shikon No Tama. Three, well can't really think of much else, cept that maybe we will get to see more romance with the main characters. I know it's dumb but just what I think. I also think in the final battle, Naraku will probably transform into some giant youkai, to the point where he won't even look humanish anymore. I also think Inuyasha will kill him with basically help from everyone.

Here is what I think will happen:

Naraku will have the whole Shikon no Tama,
and Inuyasha-tachi will run 'roun like, dag yo!
And somehow they wind up in Tokyo...

Naraku: "Now when I'm in the future,
I can take over the world in a very cliché way
by fighting on top of Tokyo Tower! Hahaha!"
*Naraku and the others fight on top of TW*
Inuyasha: "Dammit, I'm loosing my vision...
I think I've lost too much blood...!"
*everyone watch Inuyasha faint and fall off TW,
not really surprised, since this would someday happen*
Kagome: "I guess it's up to me now!"
*Kagome stretches her bow and fires towards Naraku*

Serious ending:
I think it would be a good ending fight with Naraku if Inuyasha found out a new attack that he could use with Tetsusaiga. Then he used it to kill Naraku but it would be too powerful and it blows Naraku away as well as the whole Shikon Ball Naraku collected. Inuyasha would have no choice but to stay forever a hanyou (kawaii!!)

Non-serious ending: (or is it? )
Kirara comes out and bites Naraku's tentacle off, distracting him while Rin jumps up and puts lipstick on him (and other assorted make-up). Then Shippo grabs a hand-mirror and puts it in one of Naraku's tentacles. When Naraku seens himself with make-up on, he screams (really high-pitched) and kills himself, handing the shikon no tama to Inuyasha while melting to the floor.

Serious ending:

Naraku and IY face each other at a cliff.
The others are half alive,
and Kagome just looks on in terror.
Naraku has got the full Shikon no Tama.

Naraku: "Hanyou... give me your best."
*Inuyasha is about to take out Tetsusaiga,
but instead he leaps over to Kagome
and takes her bow and arrow*
Inuyasha: "Take this, Naraku!!"
*Naraku is destroyed by IY's arrow,
and Kagome looks on in shock*
Kagome: "Inuyasha, you..."
Inuyasha: "heh... didn't know i could use it, eh?"
Kagome: "No... you hit the Shikon no Tama
Naraku were holding... now we have to gather it again."

You know what it would be funny if Naraku gets killed by Onigumo. (can't spell but you know the guy that Naraku was before he became a Hanyou) But seriously, I suspect that while the grand battle will be between Inu Yasha and Naraku, in the end eventually be down to Kikyou and Kagome somehow killing Naraku together with Kikyou dying off as a result.

Then again this is a Takahashi story, so the come-full-circle conclusion is not a certain...

Love triangle don't you just love them

The vote is kinda difficult to decide because Kagome almost killed him once but Kikyo also is helping him get the shards to destroy him and almost after Inuyasha killing Naraku with Tetsusaiga its gonna be one of those 3 I think but everyone is gonna do their part, but how are Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru going to get along fighting together. Sesshoumaru already didn't want Inuyasha's help with those Mountain Cats told him to go home. If Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru are there at the same time I think they are goign to end up killing one another before or after Naraku.

It'd be cool for The Shinintai to help backstab Naraku at the last moment. But of course, the flea is harsh the best character to kill Naraku. I mean, suck his blood!!! WOOOO.

If Rin killed Naraku it would be the biggest pharse in the history of the Universe, except maybe the last 30 episodes of Rurouni Kenshin.

I would utterly hate the series if something as stupid as that happened.
I would burn my IY dvds and never watch another episode again.

If anyone besides Sesshoumaru or Iy kills naraku i would never watch any IY ever again that would be the dumbest thing ever.

IY technically should be the one who kills him since he has the most history with him and since hes the main character.

Sesshoumaru could get away with it since hes the best character on the show and i dont think anyone would question anything that he does.

Kagome or Kikyou beating him with there weak ass purify arrows would be ridiculous and i dont want to see him sucked up by the kazaana.

Kouga.......Sango....... they have about as good of chance as rin.

I think Kagome is stronger than Inuyasha.

Kagome's hidden powers wouldn't be for fighting but for other "stuff".

I think Kikyo will sacrifice herself for Kagome realizing it is the best for Inuyasha and that somehow distracts Naraku so he gets killed by Inuyasha. Sesshomaru will die somehow and everybody will be thinking that nobody can revive him because nobody but him could master the tenseiga and then Rin uses it and revives him. And maybe Kagome can start up some kind of purifying shield or something so she can purify youkai just by directing som energy at them or something and the everybody will realize she was actually the strongest character from the start.

well to defeat naraku they haft to get the shikon no tama away from him right. well i guess that they someone how get it lodged out of him kagome gets it purfifys it and it goes back into her body where it belongs than like in the first episode she can use the shikons powers and blast him.

but since that wasnt one of the choices i chose inu yasha and blah but i stick by what said up there^ because i think that scene played a major role in the anime because kagome can actually use the shikon i dont remember hearing that kikyo could.
