Full Version: What If Kikyou Were Alive?

This is just a big what if:

Let's say Sesshoumaru used the Tensiaga (healing sword) to bring Kikyou back to life. Who would you prefer Inuyasha to be with?

I would pick Kikyou being that they had a very close relationship from way back. Plus the fact the Inuyasha is so slow to let go of his feelings for Kikyou, that it would easier for him to let go of Kagome and be with Kikyou if she were to come back to life.

I also feel that Kikyou is much more mature than Kagome and would be a better person for Inuyasha to relate to in my opinion.

Bit confused here--are we talking about Sesshoumaru bringing Kikyou's clay body to life? huh.gif Or her real one?

Well anyway, if Kikyou were truly brought back to life, I'd have to agree with you. I'd probably prefer Inuyasha with her. The only reason I like Kagome better right now is because she's the one that makes Inuyasha happier... but if Kikyou weren't already dead, and had the potential to have a future with Inuyasha... well, then, go her. She got a crappy deal in life, so it'd only be fair for her to have another chance.

I'd feel bad for Kagome, but she lives in a different time period anyway. She'd probably get over it, eventually. It'd be hard for her, but not quite the end of the world.

I take the Bones McCoy attitude: "She's dead, Jim!"

Kagome is Kikyou: they share the same soul, so when Kikyou "gives up the ghost", she'll return to Kagome. In short, I think Inuyasha would prefer Kagome. It's a 2 fer!

Also, Kikyou had a suriptitious motive for helping Inuyasha: it would purify the Shikon no Tama. Kagome's love is pure in the way that all adolescent girls' love is pure. That is until Kagome goes to college and dumps him. tongue.gif

It doesn't matter how she comes back to real life, it's a what if question. As I have logical way of explaining that scenario happening.

I have to disagree with MirokuKun that Inuyasha was needed for the purification of the Shikon no Tama. That was Kikyou's job and hers alone. I would think she wanted Inuyasha to use the Shikon no Tama to become human which would relieve her of being a Miko and the responsibilities of the burden.

The college thing, well who would arguing on that point!

I don't think the fact that it would purify the Shikon no Tama was a major influence on Kikyou's decision to help him. I truly think she loved him just like he loved her; they were kindred spirits, and Inuyasha did as much for Kikyou's soul as she ever did for his. After she'd spent her entire life dedicated to being a miko, never letting her guard down, he was the one that finally managed to penetrate her defenses, just as she broke through his. That says a lot. After all, there was a reason she was so hurt and angry when she'd thought he had betrayed her. If their arrangement had mainly been a ways to finally purify the Tama, I don't think she would have been nearly so emotional during her final moments.

Yes, Kagome loves Inuyasha in a very pure way, but who's to say Kikyou didn't, before her death?

Now hat's a much tougher matter to puzzle out. They do share the same soul... but if anything, Kikyou had it first, so one could argue (not that I necessarily will) that Kagome should be the one to give it up. wink.gif (Obviously in the normal storyline the soul is Kagome's now, no question, but if Kikyou were to be fully brought to life again it gets a lot more complicated...) You also have to consider that Kikyou is still a different person than Kagome, regardless of whether or not they share the same soul, and so Kikyou should have just as much right to live.

Then of course, there's the real tricky thing: the fact that Inuyasha seems to love both of them equally. And if Kikyou weren't trying to drag him to hell and in fact was as alive and well as Kagome, and maybe even had her old personality back, then it would become a very hard choice between the two of them.

So I'll stick with my vote on Kikyou's behalf, if for no reason than that when she's not being an evil bitch, I actually find her less annoying than Kagome. tongue.gif

[EDIT: Man, do I have a tendency to ramble when it gets late. happy.gif;;]

Wow. I didn't even consider the way Inuyasha and Kikyou were so into each other. But it so true, that they were like that practically a couple.
Knowing that one would expect nothing less that how she acted when she was reincarnated and tried to kill Inuyasha.

To me though that is way I think if Kikyou was ever brought back to life fully. That Inuyasha would pick her over Kagome. Yeah Kikyou is way less annoying and surely not a sixteen year old, going thru the stages of love. Kikyou seemed to already has picked Inuyasha and he picked her. I mean you see it so plainly, Inuyasha will never totally get over Kikyou. Which is way I think he would choose her if she were ever to come alive again.

Kagome seems like a replacement to me, and she is not a totally as Inuyasha still hung up on Kikyou. My vote is for Inuyasha and Kikyou. Its really sad how their story together was cut short.

I allways though Inuyasha & Kikyou looked good together.
But I think he can get a lot more out of being with Kagome.
Many says "Kikyou didn't want Inuyasha for who he is",
but she needed for him to become human to be able to live together.
But I still think Kagome has gotten to know IY better than Kikyou,
and therefore I think Inuyasha and Kagome should be together.
And even though he hasn't given up on Kikyou,
I don't think he ever could give up on Kagome either...

Inuyasha really has a problem with revealing too many emotions. tongue.gif
That's probably why Kagome could figure out IY feelings for Kikyou.
SuperRob1
To Inuyasha looks better with Kikyou. Also I think I've never seen too many kind emotions from Kikyou shown. Inuyasha and Kikyou both are not exactly the most vocal characters. They are both reserved type I think. Inuyasha is hotheaded and Kikyou is deadly calculating.

I see Kikyou being older than Inuyasha for some reason and think that she would be better to handle him better than Kagome would, being that Kagome is still a young teen and Inuyasha is her first love. We see how she tries to deal with Kikyou and her feelings for Inuyasha, with her temper getting the best of her and poor Inuyasha feels it EVERYTIME! I be scared silly myself.

Well to me i'd prefer Inuyasha and Kagome, but i do understand that inu loves kikyou soo much .. Its like a dog, (well my dog at least as a example) When their 'master' leaves for the day or whatever the dog goes all depressed and when the 'master' comes back the dog goes all lovey dovey .. which inuyasha IS a dog .. well somewhat lol. So ya Kikyou's inuyasha's master and she's got him trained pretty well lol. blink.gif

I'd say he'd be better with Kagome. He seems happier with her, truly happy. In all the flashbacks, he doesn't seem really happy, I think it was just the first person who'd accepted him, so he wasn't lonely anymore. It doesn't really seem like "love" to me, moreso he was an outcast in a negative way and she was an outcast in a postive way, and since they could relate, they just started hanging out. And they obviously didn't trust each other at all, whereas Kagome and Inuyasha trust each other completely.

Also, Kikyo never truly accepted him. She wanted him to use the Shikon no Tama to become human so that they could be married, and she would be relieved of her Miko responsibilities. Sounds kinda like a copout to me. Kagome, on the other hand, accepts and loves Inuyasha for what he is, not what he can be. She also seems more responsible and mature, in that she's not trying to escape her responsibility. Despite all the danger and it not being her time, she keeps going back to collect the shards to purify the jewel. She's not looking for ways to be rid of the job.

And as for the maturity thing, I think it's better that Kagome is not as mature. Kikyo seems very solemn and mature and kinda dull. Kagome is firey and outgoing, which is really what Inuyasha needs to be kept interested and to get him to open up. She shows her emotions, where Kikyo seems very reserved and keeps everything to herself. And Inuyasha's very immature himself, so an overly mature and an overly immature person wouldn't be good together.

But yeah, I think he and Kagome are better, despite Inuyasha and Kikyo's history. I'd feel bad for Kikyo since she did get screwed, but I think she'd move on a lot easier than Kagome would. Kagome's feelings are a lot more pure and I just think that she's a lot more honest and open and loyal. And if she did die and was brought back, I cannot see her becoming like Kikyo, even if she thought Inuyasha had betrayed her. That alone, I think, proves that Kagome is a better match.

So, even though Inuyasha is still stuck a bit on Kikyo, I think it's just because of how abruptly and traumatic things between them had ended. He's still in the process of coming to terms with it. He's obviously a lot closer to Kagome now, and I'm sure that in time he'll have completely moved on and gotten over Kikyo. The only thing really holding him to her now, in my opinion, is guilt and his feeling of responsibility. He doesn't think he's allowed to be happy or whatever until he's avenged her death and helped her be at peace. Blaming yourself for the death of someone you care about probably makes it a lot harder to move on.

There ya go. My thoughts on why Inuyasha and Kagome are meant to be together smile.gif
Kagome-sama
Well, who can guess who I want Inuyasha to be with? Kikyo tried to drag Inuyasha into the underworld, okay? What kind of a "girlfriend" does that?? Please! She had no reason for trying to murder Inuyasha and bring him into Hell. And did anyone see the movie? (The first one, i'm still really looking forward to the second). WARNING: SPOILER FOR ANYONE WHO DID NOT SEE THE MOVIE. ok. well. What was up with Kikyo pushing Kagome into the well?? Kagome has been MORE than nice to Kikyo and Kikyo turns around and "tests Kagome's powers" by throwing her back into her own time and trying to keep her there. Hmph. It is obvious, isn't it? As it has been stated before, once the threads of fate have been broken, they will never be fixed again. Or something. You get my general idea, don't you? Inuyasha and Kagome!! (Kikyo, go back to where you came from, you @#$%)

We have to remember that Kikyou is not whom she used to be.
The part of her soul that still remains in her is only hatred.
But she still have feelings for Inuyasha and wants to be with him.
It's obvious that she's jealouse and wants Inuyasha to herself.
Even though I'm a "Go, Kagome & Inuyasha = Forever!" fan,
I still don't think we should judge Kikyou too hard. Does anyone agree?
Afterall, she was the first one to ever accept poor Inuyasha.
Hm... and it's frank obvious I like Kikyou becasue her seiyuu is Hidaka Noriko! laugh.gif
*lol* This is the only reason I keep on talking about that bitch!

This post made no sense what so ever...

I don't think it matters that Kikyou came first. What matters is who makes a better pair. Kikyou can't just "claim" IY because she came before Kagome. Kikyou seems too interested in herself and doesn't seem like the loving/caring kind that Kagome would be. Whenever I see Kikyou with InuYasha I can't help but think that it's more of a possesive thing than with Kagome. Kagome sure doesn't want to "possess" InuYasha, but she does want to be with him.
