I just don't understand it. Why all this Jaken hate?

First of all, he is definitely a pickle. We have concrete proof of this. Moonie caught him in the act, plotting with Houjou to take over Jared the Subway commercial guy with mind control, and thus... well, I'm getting off the subject here, but anyway. Yes, he is a pickle. Accept it.

Second, anyone who says Jaken is gay obviously hasn't seen the way the little guy was oggling Kagura's boobs in the last two manga chapters. Geesh... I mean, talk about obvious...

Third... Jaken is hot! Repeat after me: H-O-T.



Come on! How can anyone deny that raw pickle magnetism?

And lastly... he's cute; he's loyal; he's funny; he's got a soft and tender side buried deep underneath that harsh, cold exterior; he's voiced by Chou-san ( ); he made shirtless Inuyasha and Miroku possible in episode 79 (we all thank you for that, Jaken); he raises the bar for all people short and green; and... he pwns.

We need some Jaken love here.

Oh we REALLY thank him for that one.....

Anyone who can make a hot spring and get us shirtless footage can't be all that bad.

I don't hate Janken.....I just don't like him that much around Sesshou....I mean he acts a little to emotional when Sesshou does something against him. Shouldn't he be used to Sesshou's treatments by now. XD

But I do admit he is funny to watch sometimes.

Well, of course he's going to act emotional when Sess beats on him. I mean, he's been his faithful, dedicated, uber-loyal servant for over fifty years (judging by anime canon, anyway), and Sesshoumaru still doesn't appreciate him properly. Unrequited love is always painful. (And yes, I know I said he wasn't gay. It's, um... platonic love. Yes... XD)

But as long as you concede that he is funny, and also a pickle, it's all good. (And remember that there's only one 'n' in his name, too... ;;)

XD We all hope it's platonic. Or Sesshou will really kill his ass if he finds out!

I don't know...but Jaken is sooo, annoying too. Sometimes!

But all the characters are annoying, sometimes. Inuyasha is annoying (Inu-kun... think before you speak!). Sesshoumaru is annoying (would it kill you to show some emotion sometimes, Sess?). The houshi is annoying (just stick with Sango, silly boy). The only character who is never annoying is Hakudoushi. (He's perfect. XD) But due to their overwhelming hotness, pwnageness, and adorability, we forgive the other characters for the occasional frustrating moments.

And because Jaken is also adorable, not to mention cool, sexy, and hilarious, he deserves to be cut some slack too.

But, if the only purpose this thread ultimately serves is to enlighten everyone on the correct spelling of the pickle-toad's name, then I have done my part.

Ah...Again...Sorry to anyone who likes the American Jaken...

[edit] ehh...just to be clear or something, I'm saying I'm not particularly fond of the American Jaken not mainly because of how he pronounces Sessh, but also because the way he acts and sounds... just "isn't all that great"

Well, yeah... American Jaken isn't all that great, needless to say... ::sweatdrop::

But in his defense, it's a hard character to voice, and Chou-san is impossible to top anyway. And he has had a couple of good moments, although they're rare... episode 44 (I think it was that ep) when he's sliced in half by Kaijinbou comes to mind. The little noise he made... XD I cracked up.

XD I watched a couple of dubbed episodes, and I found that sooooo annoying. OMG! When ever some one in the show said Sesshoumaru's name I was like WTF.

" God! Just because they had to translate it to english doesn't mean they had to mess up the names like that. I mean I can't speak Jap. and I can say the names. Why can't they?"

I don't see what the big deal is about name pronunciation. All anime dubs do that. They don't roll the "r" in Ryoko's name on the Tenchi dub, for example, but I've never heard anyone complain. It's not like they're changing the names completely to Americanize them or anything, just saying them with an American accent.

Japanese dubs of Western cartoons do the same thing. In fact, if I went to Japan, the people there would pronounce my name, Melissa, with a Japanese accent. I'm not going to get fussy about it and correct them.

For what it's worth, they have tried to "fix" this in later episodes, pronouncing Kagura's and Kanna's names like the original.

It jsut sounds wrong. At least to me. But then again I am used to the subbed vertion. That's all i've watched fromt he begining of the show. I know if I went anywhere i'd like them to get my name right.

I saw WHR to the other night and they where prononcing the names ok. That surprised me.

It's not that they roll their R's, I feel like they're not really trying to make the names sound like the original. I mean they could at least say SesshouMAru...And Shippou, I doubt they would have a hard time saying "Sheepou." But the Inuyasha dub is one of the more... acceptable ones, I know that after watching a few episodes (after I got cable ^^).

Yeah, the WHR dub is pretty good (they pronounced Watanabe pretty well ). Like cowboy bebop, but to tell the truth, I've never watched Cowboy Bebop in japanese. XD But the characters just have more emotion when they're talking.

So to be on topic again: I like pickles and broccoli XD
