Just finished watching the episode. Well, no Hakudoushi (unless you count the final shot in the ep--a creepy, pale, dripping (

) arm reaching up out of a pile of clothes and likely giving Kagura the shock of her life). But this ep does an excellent job of setting up 142, for which I can't wait.

And this was by no means a bad episode on its own, either. Actually, it's easily the best we've gotten in quite a while... probably since 132 (which, coincidentally enough, was the last canon episode

). This was one of those not-so-common cases where the anime expanded on something in the manga a little bit, and it actually worked out for the better. There wasn't that much added altogether--just a few scenes extended here and there, usually to make things flow better--but what they did add worked exceptionally well, particularly the battle with Entei.
Wow. That was friggin' awesome--the youba most definitely stole the episode. Another indication that 142 is going to blow people away.

Besides for Entei, the other thing that stood out to me about this ep is the way the scenes were (for lack of a better word) editted. It was kind of a small thing, really, but again, very nicely done. Particularly when the old man is explaining to Inu-tachi about Entei and about the "mysterious woman and baby" who keep attacking priests, and simultaneously the old Buddhist priest takes on Kagura and so on. The way they cut back and forth between the scenes worked really well, I thought. And Hakudoushi's theme worked
so well all throughout this episode. Added even more to the already-creepy feeling the episode had in general. Very cool.
Anyway... very good news about the next bunch of eps. Sounds like things are just going to keep on getting better, then.
