Since Kagura and Kanna are detachments of Naraku are they also hanyou like him or full-fledged demons?

thats a hard question...
im gonna try to give an answer with only 2 suporting statements...
i believe that: Yes they are full youkai.. because:
1. (as always) they do have those elf-oid ears i have mentioned...
(while Naraku doesnt...) hmmmnnn i must admit i havent seen
Kanna's ears, but her so closely related sister's should be representing
both of them...
2. In the same fashion Naraku can absorb youkai, he can send em off...
only thing he cant remove is Onigumo's old self still resident in him...
thus everything else removed, as expected, is free of Onigumo... which
is the only thing that keeps naraku a Hanyou...
(hmmmnn... i think im right)

Yeah that must be it.
Kagura and Kanna must be a part of other youkai inside of Naraku.
Since he's bulit up by youkai and all...
so they must therefore be youkai too... right?

They might be hanyou because they smell like Naraku, but from what I've seen so far, scent can only tell the difference between human-ish things and youkai-ish things.
But I think they're youkai because of what Patrioil and Ozy said. And if they're hanyou, their time of the month (sorry) would probably be at the same time as Naraku's. Or it could be at some other time, but I haven't seen anything...and from what I've seen of Naraku, I'm glad I haven't.

speaking of Kagura, she hasn't appeared in a LONG time...

SPOILER!
She will within 4 episodes. But that's assuming the episodes will closely follow the manga.

What MMD said.
Trust me, Kagura hasn't gone anywhere. (And she's still as kickass as ever, too.)

Anyway, this is a pretty interesting question, but like Choko I'd have to agree with what Ozy and Patroil said. I think the pointy ears pretty much confirm it. Bicycle-riding houshis aside, Takahashi tends to pay attention to details like that.

That 'time of the month' thing isn't a real indication: Naraku can pick the time he wants, so if Kagura and Kanna should be able to choose aswell, if they're hanyou. Also, I doubt the ears matter much. I mean, Inu Yasha doesn't exactly have normal ears, right? I don't quite remember, but I don't believe the ears are always the same on hanyou and youkai. Does anyone remember what kind of ears that girl that could cast the barrier for those bats had? (She looked like Kanna BTW) And those two butterfly-like youkai? I agree with the other arguments though .

i don't remember what type of ears the bat hanyou girl had. but the first of the moth hanyou (the bandit leader who spat out acidic silk) had rounded human-like ears.

I believe Shiori (the bat hanyou) had normal rounded ears. But I really don't remember all that well. It's in one of the episodes in the early 60's I think. I can check later, but right now I am stuck at work

Shiori's ears where hidden under her hair, she's got kind of an Inuyasha due, with the long dred's on the sides over where her ears would be in long in the back (not as long as Inu's though)

the first moth youkai, Gatenmaru was not a hanyou....

Gatenmaru had rounded ears because he was in disguise as a human. His men didn't know he was a youkai until after Inuyasha showed up to fight him. His true form has pointed ears like any other youkai's.
Jinenji has rounded ears--he's a hanyou.
And I can't think of anyone in Inuyasha who had pointed ears who wasn't a youkai...
