I just took at look at the FangirlFriday website today and noticed they say they've begun translating "Inuyasha Movie 2" in their "In Progress" box. It looks as if the DVD they've been waiting for is out...

I'm wondering if this is for real because I don't see any mention of the new work in their news section. If you're interested, check it out for yourself at Fangirl Friday

Looks like I'm going to have a lot in store for a while (119, 120, Movie 2).

Yeah, I saw that update (also nice to see they're in the process of translating 119 and 120). FgF has the same screener copy of Movie 2 that Ani-Kraze released, so I think they're doing their translation based on that. The DVD isn't out yet, but once it is, I'm pretty sure that's the version they're planning to release.

We'll probably have to wait till the end of the month at least, but it should be worth it.

Well, using the screener for the translation is a smart thing to do. It's obviously going to be the same dialogue as the DVD, plus the same timing, so once the DVD comes out, they'll already have the translation done, so it'll be a quick release.

Bought? hell i've had 2nd for like 1-2 weeks. Isn't ganna be differnt then anime-kraze. Anyways the DVD comes out sometime later this month

FGF actually said like a week ago,
that they were translating from the vhs,
and then they're gonna use the dvd
(and I hope they translate this
"missed audio thing" from the dvd). ^^
I can barely wait for this movie...

I've got to admit that I missed you Patriol... I've been checking out lots of topics here in the forums and noticed you normally have a few points to add so I wondered when you'd post here...

Now that I know FgF is subbing the VHS tape of the movie, I'm rather curious about why they chose to do that. Animeforever mentioned it would start work on Movie 2 when the DVD came out... and I thought that FgF and Animeforever had a partnership going on when it came to IY subs. So, I thought that FgF would only do a sub of the DVD - that's why I'm curious about why FgF chose to sub the VHS.

Also - Patriol, did you not mention FgF announce it would be subbing the VHS tape? I checked their site briefly and missed that piece of info - I'd like to see if I you could post a link for it so I could see it too.

From what I have gathered, they are not subbing the VHS per say, but they are translating it and then once the DVD comes out, they will use that translation to sub the DVD release. Although I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure FGF wouldn't release the VHS version because they didn't think the quality was high enough.

How is it not going to be much better than the VHS? All they are doing is translating the dialouge. They are NOT going to use the video feed from the VHS. So unless I am missing something vital here, there should be a vast improvement between the VHS release and the one FGF is currently working on.

And, yes, they're translating from the VHS,
but they're not using the VHS footage,
they're wating for the DVD HQ (of course!).
I don't think it makes any difference,
translating from the VHS version, I mean...
It's still the same movie (aside from "missing audio").

Yes, we are translating the movie using the screener copy (the same one that Anime-Kraze has). No, that is not the copy that we will be releasing. Yes, we are going to wait until we have better source before releasing. Yes, we will use this better source to translate the part that is missing from the screener. No, I don't always talk in Yes/No sentences.

As far as the quality goes, the main reason we aren't releasing the screener copy is the missing audio and a few points of video corruption. Honestly, I think the overall quality of the video is good enough for release, but there's no way we'd want to release something that was missing half a minute of audio, no matter how unimportant it is.

Good, I've been resisting the temptation to read the summary, but from what I know this will be much much much better than the first movie.
