XD The Japanese bloggers drew lots of fanart for this chapter. It's usual for them to re-draw some scenes and add comments or make little parodies, but they did it for this chapter in excess.

Howa-san has a pretty neat review, where she re-draws practically the entire chapter to add her comments. However, the very last picture on the page is just her own fan-interpretation of how everyone got out of the river ^_^*.

Okay. NOW things are getting interesting to me again. I like Kagura's character, and am hoping there's some closure with her character soon. I wouldn't even mind if Naraku succeeded in killing her, because it would mean that the plot is GOING somewhere! Enough circles already!

What a dang clever disguise for Naraku's heart, though! I totally didn't see that coming! Now that Sesshoumaru is involved again, I am hoping that this brings everything to a culmination.

And is it just me? Or is it a total trip to see Naraku chattin it up with his little boy self?

The Kagura/Sesshoumaru fans are going to go nuts over this chapter. I can see it spawning a whole slew of Kagura/Sesshoumaru PWP fics...

Hakudoushi's spear, which attacks Goryoumaru. Goryoumaru is not Naraku's underling? Sensing something amiss, Inuyasha's party hurries to the temple! What will happen when Inuyasha, Goryoumaru, and Hakudoushi all meet? And what is Kagura up to?

Damn... well Patchness... you're right, there's a big setup in this week's chapter that seems to be in prep for next week's Goryou/Haku confrontation. Except... well...

In the end, I was all set to believe that the Doushers had just KILLED Goryou. <_>

Hehe... one of the big things in this chapter was when Kagura starts talking to Sesshoumaru about Naraku's heart. Kagura seems to know that Naraku doesn't trust her. She also mentions that for some reason the youki crystals seemed to indicate that the baby was in Goryoumaru's temple.

A little bit of a chat (which I haven't quite understood thoroghly yet...) mostly that Kagura is wondering why she's still alive...

SESSHOUMARU: If what you're saying is true, and you're after his heart, Naraku already knows. (What the full meaning is here isn't entirely clear to me yet... I've gotta go through and read more thoroghly)
KAGURA: That's right... But then... why am I still alive? If I've been exposed... I should have been killed back then...


...and I just realized that I REALLY shouldn't use that translation, because when Kaugra says that, she's literally sitting there... um... exposed. XD


And then when she leaves, Sesshoumaru looks WAY too wistful as he stares after her. Hehehe. I'm all set to believe that those two indeed are going to get together. If Kagura lives through this all, that is.

Anyhow... gah, a few more things. The chapter is called "Rakanzou," which are buddhist statues which ward off evil. So Inuyasha-tachi are doing their usual exploring/searching and are led to this cave full of what looks like rakanzou. Remember those statues from back in the Gouryoumaru chapters and stuff? Looks like that.

So then Hakudoushi finds Kagura and gives her a job to do. Doesn't say what it is yet, but he says somethign about the temple being very important. Kagura's thoughts are, "He's saying 'it's important?' If I'm right... the heart is here!?"

Well, that's kinda lose, but meh.

And just look at how evil 'Doushi is. Makes you wanna hug him, doesn't it? XD

Heh, yeah, I've been doin' the whole blogging thing, and the Japanese fans seem to really take this chapter as an indication that Sess and Kagura are gonna hook up. Unfortunately, most of the bloggers who do chapter reviews are Sess/Rin fans, so we get funny things like:

"No offense to the Sessho/Kagura fans, but..... NYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

Wow. Did Sesshoumaru actually have a concerned/sympathetic expression when Kagura left, or is it just me?? Whatever it was, it was deliberate. Takahashi I'm sure knew exactly how her readers would interpret that look. I don't think there's a single face shot - even when from he found Rin - where he expresses that kind of emotion. I just stared at it, my mind not quite computing the moment.

And Hakudoushi ordered Kagura to kill the kids!! And of course she won't be able to do it. Which means he'll have to kill her. But I'm inclined to wonder why Naraku won't kill them himself... Or Hakudoushi.

Kagura is probably going to die an angsty death - and Sesshoumaru, like you're all suggesting, will bring her back to life. What an unexpected chemistry! It was easy to envision her invested interest in him, but for him to be even intrigued by her was something I never thought possible.

(minor gloating - I'm feeling even more validated with how I portrayed her in Venganza. "Apparently the liberated Kagura didn't like bloodshed. Especially when it involved little children." )

Actually, that scene had me rather shocked. I know there's been deaths before in Inuyasha, but this one seemed particularly shocking. Hakudoushi is UTTERLY evil. *shudders*


You're going to like this one, then Thunk-thunk. Although I doubt it's because Kagura doesn't like bloodshed (I still think she'll kill if she must), she obviously does NOT kill the boys, and rather seems genuinely confused at Hakudoushi's actions.

But that might just be me readng into her "...." line a little too much. XD Because Haku goes *WHACK* *slashes Goryou's neck* and Kagura just numbly stands by (seems like she's completely ignored what he said about killing the children) and goes ".........."

Kanna and the baby were indeed hiding in Goryou's temple. It's hard to say exactly HOW they were because Kagura just kinda turns around and... there they are.

And to tell the truth... there... actually isn't too much more to actually SAY about this week's chapter. o_O You'd think there would be with color pages and all, but... well, ther was a lot of screaming, yelling, a Kaze no Kuso, and the little Naraku Mini-Me gets away AGAIN, ("I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog, too!") taking Kanna and the baby with him.

But to tell the truth, I honestly didn't expect Kagura to be playing as large a role as she is now. Her fate isn't decided yet. I guess it's just a matter of what her decisions are from here on out and how she'll manage to get out of Naraku's grip.

I should probably wait to see for myself, but...

Okay, so now that Goryoumaru's dead, did they happen to mention what will happen to the boys? Did they ever figure out what the deal was with those statues? Was there a point to all this that affects the plot other than Kagura realizing her death may be at hand?

Questions, questions...

I don't think they'll really show what happens to the boys after this, but Inuyasha-tachi hold a burrial ceremony for Goryou with the boys. Then Miroku tells them that they should leave the temple.

I'm betting that that's the last we'll really see of them and the temple. But again, I'm not sure. The chapter is quite open-ended in that sense. Kagome is looking at the statues, and just reminded of the fact that those statues are the source of the jyaki, and it ends right there and goes to the next scene with Kagura once again finding herself with Kanna and the baby.

How.. odd.

Kagura was left with the baby, huh? You'd think Naraku wouldn't let her near it now that she knows the truth behind it. She could take down Kanna easily if she wanted and kill the baby - and Naraku - before he even knew what hit him. He must have some kind of plan going on there. (When doesn't he?)

I don't know about the boys and the temple, but there must be some story behind those statues. That's not the kind of thing you throw into a story without some connection with the plot somewhere. That's my feeling, anyway.

I don't really have much else to say, except Thanks.

Yeah thanks. (And anyway I figured I had a 50-50 chance of being right about Gory being dead. I mean you take a pike to the neck like that, you're pretty dead most of the time.)

Chapter 353: Oni no Iwa
Ogre's Rock

I'm assuming that referrs to the oni-shaped rock that Kagura went to at the very end of last week's chapter.

However, it sounds like Fluffy's back this week, deciding "ah, what the heck, I'll check out that temple anyway." Of course, by the time he gets there, everyone's gone, including the Gyouja kids. And then... it almost sounds like Goryoumaru comes back to life, but not by Sess's hand.

The Sess/Rin fans were also quick to point out something else about this week's chapter: They touch. Apparently there's one shot where Rin has joined Jaken hanging onto the end of his fluffy. This wouldn't be such a big deal if it wasn't the first time since their first meeting that there's been any physical contact between the two, no matter how minor.

Elsewhere, it sounds like the Inu troupe went to that Ogre's Rock as well (they must've followed Kagura or something), and Naraku's there.

XD Yep, that's pretty much the chapter in a nutshell.

I wouldn't have even noticed her hanging onto his fluffy like that if you hadn't said anything. Really subtle.

Let's see... I guess a few more things. At one point where Naraku is taunting them with the Shikon Jewel. He brings the ogre's rock to life, and as Kagura is watching what's going on and Hakudoushi appears behind her and gives the infamous "........." line, with that devious Doushi grin on his face.

So... Kagura's fate is STILL up in the air.

Ah.... hm, well, the only blogger that I read who actually states the title of the weekly chapters started off this week's post with "I'm doing this from memory, so I don't think I remember the title accurately. It was something like 'Yaburenu Kabe' ('Unbreakable Wall')." So... yeah. ^_^*

And, well, apparently our Houshi-sama gets Saimyoushou-ed again. And... I was just skimming these without bothering to crack open the dictionary, so Kuro-kuro is free to bite my head off if I interpreted things wrong, but... it almost sounds like Inuyasha wants to use Kagome's Shikon shard to power up Tessaiga to break out of the oni. And Naraku has l337 teleportation skillz and can pop up wherever Hakudoushi is (like when he got out of Otherworld), so he got out of the oni no problem and proceeded to join Hakudoushi in looking menacingly at Kagura. ^_^*

Huh. Well, this only sounds like the best chapter ever. XD But I can wait for the translation. It won't be too bad.

I don't know if that's a good idea or not. Takahashi has always refused to let Inuyasha use the shards to gain power, or else he would've done it a long time ago. Part of the story was about him having to rely on his own strength. Before now, whenever a situation came up that he couldn't overcome, he gained a new power on his own.

But maybe this is her way of telling us he's matured enough since then. Is this just another step toward the end of the story?

Yep, that's exactly what happens. Kind of surprised me, too. Basically the whole chapter was like, "We're stuck! Damn!" And that was it. o_O

Except for one totally awesome shot of Naraku and Haku looming over Kagura. I didn't know whether to scream in terror or laugh at the fact that Kagura looked like she'd just crapped her kimono. XD



Good point. Even Kagome seemed a little surprised at his asking her to give him the shards. But the thing is, when he wanted to gain power with the shards before, it was for selfish reasons. Now he's just using it because it seems like a last resort. He's gotta get them all the hell outta that ogre before they're all killed.

I gotta wonder what he's got planned for the shard, though. Whether he's going to use it to power up Tessaiga into like an UBER-RYUUSOUNOKIZUHA! or something... although a juiced up Kongousouha would totally get me giddy next chapter. Heee...

But my thoughts? He's gonna use them, and then lose them to Naraku. Heh-heh-heh.

Actually, I was thinking that might be the best way to protect the shard. Not that I don't trust Kagome's abilities... When was the last time Inuyasha lost Tessaiga to an enemy?

Ok, so I just realized that I had a question about this chapter:

Did Naraku not realize that this didn't work last time (dissolve them all inside big meltly gooy thing, a.k.a. Mr. Hakureizan (sorry, forgot spelling))?

I mean come on, there has to be more sure fire ways to get the jewel shards... Naraku may not have the greatest track record in terms of killing the gang, but he seems pretty capable of taking shards usually. Inuyasha and gang do not exactly have the best track record of keeping them.

Oh, on that note. Anybody else ever thing that they should just entrust the shards they gather to Kouga (not that Inuyasha'd ever let that happen, but still)? I mean, that wolf's held on to his for a faaaaaaaaaar longer period of time.

Okay, this is half sleepiness, half being indulged with ramen talking now.

Inuyasha does NOT use the shards on himself, but there's a reason he turns full-youkai. But there are two things that absolutely got me totally worked up about this weeks' chapter. I ended up with cold lunch because of this chapter... XD

One is, of course her holding onto him, and his line to her. Talk about warm fuzzies.

But most of all... did I ever mention that I LOVE full-youkai Inuyasha? He's like, totally badass. And this chapter... has it all.

Full-youkai Inuyasha holding his POWERED UP Tessaiga. Kongousouha. And Inuyasha/Kagome fluff.

Now the thing that kind of annoyed me is... We don't know what happened to Kagura. No doubt Miroku's going to be okay. I'm betting the next chapter is going to open with them getting some rest somewhere. I also want to know if this means Inuyasha is now going to remain in the form he's in right now. In the last page, I can't tell if Kagome is still holding him, but still...

I always wondered if Inuyasha would ever be given the power of his youkai blood while still remianing in control of himself. I think this is one answer...

Yeah, I had forgotten that Tessaiga is a part of him since it was repaired with his fang. I didn't even think of that connection being a possibility. (If that's in fact how it happened)

I really hope Inuyasha doesn't decide to keep the fragment. Naraku could show up and corrupt it again at any time. But now he might not want to give it up. Maybe Kagome getting hurt will scare him out of it.

And anyway, why weren't the fragments in Kouga's legs corrupted when he got pulled into Naraku's Mt. Hakurei body?

Dangit.. I stayed up to read the chapter, and now that I have, I still can't get to sleep!

Okay, so how did Naraku know Inuyasha was using the shard? He knew everything that was going on in there...that was weird...
And why's Inuyasha's youkai blood evil? I thought that just because a youkai is a youkai doesn't mean he's automatically evil... *ponder ponder*

O_O Wow the whole thing could just end right there if Kikyou kills the baby. Not that it'll happen...Naraku's probably on his way to where Kanna is.
