Now that Kohaku has some of that crystal I wonder if Kagura will proposition Sesshoumaru again, offering to help him find the baby as long as he kills it.

Okay, I read the chapter.

... Uh, Mouryoumaru didn't die. He and Hakudoushi just yoinked the crystal thing from Miroku and ran away. And then Hakudoushi gave Mouryoumau to Kanna, who said she'd give him a soul ("Now you can be a real boy!"). And Hakudoushi had no clothes. I'm no fan of shotacon, but he was still cute topless. I'd go hug him if he wasn't scary, creepy, homicidal little Naraku mini-me.

And what is with Sesshoumaru's obsession with staring randomly off cliffs? "Ho hum, this is boring. I hope I get to be in a chapter soon. Oh, hi, Kagura!"

Well, crap. Baby is back in the picture, Fluffy is back in the picture, Kouga is once again OUT of the picture... and we have to wait an extra week until the next chapter. ::cries::

I like how Rin is just not fazed by this at all. "Wow, Kagura's got a crush on Sesshoumaru-sama! Cool!" Maybe Sess and Kagura will end up with a scene like Miroku and Sango.

Unlurking to say, Miroku hasn't done anything remotely bad in 50 chapters (well he said a couple comments, but nothing too bad), I think people are looking too much into it. I'd be pretty surprised if Takahashi ruined all his character growth. Isn't some of that chapter a flashback anyway? And the woman was the one who jumped in his arms, and he did know it was wrong. I thought it was a cute chapter personally. The beginning alone.... I think it'll end well, but I'm a fangirl so I'm probably wrong. Anyway back to lurking.

I'm just thinking that there's ONE thing I SO totally want to come out of this. I thought maybe that last big moment between Miroku and Sango was when he asked her to bear his children and she accepted. Their relationship more sealed than it had ever been. They're pretty much engaged, right?

I thought it might be all that Takahashi wanted to do with them, but I guess there's more. So what's left for them?

Heh. I just hope that Jaken getting the youki crystal means that he and Rin will get to do more in the upcoming chapters. Sessho's minions have hardly gotten two lines since the Shichinintai arc, so this was pleasant. I mean, you know Jaken hanging onto something important like that is only going to spell trouble in the end, and Fluffy'll probably have to end up bailing them out again. Seems like all Sesshoumaru ever does anymore is come to the rescue. I mean, Hakudoushi knows these youki crystals exist, so he's probably gonna go out and smite everyone he finds who has one. Regardless, it'll probably end up with Sesshoumaru vs. Mouryoumaru. Everyone else has gotten a crack at naked putty man, so why not him?

Buut, that's not likely to happen for a while, since we've gotta clear up the whole Miroku thing first. :P

But this whole Naraku/Hakudoushi/baby thing is seriously reminding me of the final boss of Chrono Trigger.

I think it's being set up so that EVERYONE is once again going to be able to find Naraku. Kagura and Kohaku will get their shots in, Sesshoumaru now has his means of finding the baby so that he can get his shots in...

Hakudoushi and the baby will get offed first, and I'm guessing with Sesshoumaru back in the picture, it'll be a showdown between Kagura, Kohaku, Hakudoushi, and Mouryoumaru (who is going to be the baby now). Sesshoumaru shows up into the picture and I'm guessing there's going to be something between Kohaku and Sesshoumaru.

The way Inu-tachi are going to find the Big Guy is going to be... who else? ... Kikyou. They'll get together one more time, Naraku will be out to get Kikyou, and there's gonna be the Final Battle To End All ™ !!1

Well after signing on to adinuyasha, and seeing/downloading the scans, I must say I'm very interested to see what exactly is going on here. (Yes folks I don't read Japanese. I just read German. Blame my love of Faust and classical Western literature upbringing.) In any case a question occurs to me. Is that girl that Miroku sees, is she Koharu? Or am I imagining things?

I honestly don't care what happens with Sesshoumaru and the youki crystals and Hakudoushi and whatnot, as long as something does. There's been a noticeable lack of actual plot development since around when Inuyasha learned the Kongousouha and they had that big battle against Naraku in the other world, and I want Takahashi to finally get to wherever she's been heading with all of this Fuyouheki, evil baby, and now Mouryoumaru stuff. One of Naraku's minions needs to be offed so we can feel like we're actually getting somewhere again (I felt a bit cheated when Mouryou and Hakudoushi got away before ), so I hope that's what this latest twist is leading up to.

As for the main issue of this chapter... hmm. I think I'm going to hold off any real comment until I can get a full translation (because it's all too easy to make the wrong assumptions or conclusions otherwise), but I will say that right now I'm somewhere in between disappointment at the first grope in nearly a year or so (the groping bothers me more than the flirting), and gratitude that at least Takahashi is focusing on Miroku and Sango at all. She could have easily ignored the couple altogether after 292, and that's actually what she seemed to have been doing. I figured we were through with MiroSan, so believe it or not, this almost came as a pleasant surprise. Almost being the key word in that sentence.

If anything, I'm mad at Miroku for going off and doing that after all my defenses of him. Now it's going to be that much harder to defend him next time. Oh well... like I said, I'm waiting to go through it all translated before I decide on my final opinion. And again, at least Miroku is getting the spotlight for a little while.

Anyway... the real reason for this post was just to tell you, Kuro, that your sig cracked me up.

Nah... that girl definitely isn't Koharu. She looks different, for one (Koharu had different hair, and freckles), and from what I can see, she and Miroku met when she was sick or something and he stopped by to help. I couldn't catch this girl's name (first off, my Japanese isn't that good, and second, it's a bit hard to read these scans as it is), but maybe someone else can help with that.

Mm well I couldn't tell. My eyesight when with my hair that I've now shaved off. But regardless I was hoping Koharu would return, if only to provide a little more conflict for Sango and Mirkou. But even so, I still want some bodies hitting the floor.

Heehee, Kuro got the translation up on her site. That pretty much explains everything. The girl's name is Shima, and apparently her relationship with Miroku is quite the odd one...

I do have to say, I feel a lot better about the chapter now that I've read it translated. Like I suspected, pretty much everything that happened between Miroku and Shima took place in the past, and throughout the entire chapter, Miroku's main concern seems to be trying to figure a way out of the situation without hurting Shima's feelings, while simultaneously not upsetting Sango. At which he fails miserably, but at least he was trying. ;;

The only thing I still have an issue with is that grope. Argh! Miroku! Oh well... at least he made it through 50 chapters with his honor intact. More than a year, manga-wise... it's definitely a record.

Well, at least he didn't grope this new girl. He looked a little too happy to see her at first, but was quite well-behaved overall, so I'm not disappointed with him there. The only one he groped that I saw was Sango, and that's to be expected.

I didn't see any groping either Honeybee.

Yeah, it's true that it would have been much worse if he'd actually groped Shima-dono, but his groping Sango is almost as bad in my opinion. All it does is put distance between them again, and recently in the manga it's seemed like they were almost past that. The last thing we need is for them to fall back into their frustrating old pattern of grope-grope-slap again. It wouldn't kill Takahashi to give them some more genuinely sweet moments, would it? Before now, they'd actually been showing a lot of progress, and we did get a few very nice scenes, particularly the couple of times after Kohaku randomly showed up. Lo and behold, their relationship was actually developing without any groping involved (gasp!). But now this again...

Aghhhh!!... ::simmers off full of frustrated fangirl wrath::

I'm actually not so mad about the groping. I look at it this way. My fiancee gets a little fresh in public...I get sorta annoyed. My fiancee starts flirting with other girls and asks them to bear his child...it's time to kill him (ok, just maim). There's a time and place for everything and perhaps Miroku is learning that. After all, he didn't grope her when she was upset over Kohaku. So, in general I don't take the groping (of only Sango mind you) as THAT great of an offense. After all, I have the feeling that Miroku will always be, um, a bit, how do I put this...horny? Obviously, this has not completely detered Sango from liking him.

Also, unless I'm forgeting something, she didn't actually slap/hit/Hirakotsu him did she? Perhaps she doesn't mind as much anymore. After all, when they got engaged, she only asked if he would stop cheating on her, not if he would stop groping her.

Well, it wasn't that there were any promises made or not; it was just that he stopped doing it, regardless. And we got nice moments like in chapters 315 and 331. Those were sweet, and it seemed like their relationship was actually deepening quite a lot. Big difference from this latest chapter, when there was much less talking and much more groping...

Hmm... but then again, he always did grope her when she started to worry about him, didn't he? Almost like it was his bizarre way of putting her at ease again. And those other times it was Miroku who was worried about Sango, and not vice versa like this latest occasion. So maybe I'm not looking into this deeply enough. Could be that Takahashi still has them down after all. Actually, thinking back to previous MiroSan moments... maybe I'm making too big a deal out of this.

Just so long as this was just an isolated incident, and we don't see a repeat of it in the very next chapter, or something like that... ::looks for some wood to knock on::

That's actually a pretty good observation I hadn't noticed before. Whenever he was sick or injured and Sango was so concerned over his health, he'd suddenly grope her to break up the tension. Now that I think of it, it probably would be his way of saying "Don't worry. If I'm well enough to do this, then you know I'll be just fine."

My own thoughts regarding Sango and Miroku, while they are still more adult than the relationship that Kagome and Inuyasha share, they are far from the perfect couple. (Hell I don't even believe in that) What I think is they are both trying to sort their way through these tumultous times together. And it's not easy since Miroku has done things he'd probably think better of now. But that's his past and Sango I think will see this through. Overall while they have a strained relationship, I'd rate it much stronger than some others I've known.

My thoughts on the chapter now? Gah. It was EXHAUSTING. Shima, Shima's dad, and Shima's mom all used words that translated really awkwardly. It's like... honorific, polite, and old-style all at once.... I don't know HOW to explain it. I had to sit down with a native Japanese speaker and get him to explain some of what they were saying, and even HE was like, "Uh, well, this is what it literally means, so I THINK that's what it translates to..." XD

Like one line when Shima's father is talking to Miroku. He says something like, "Watashi domo fuufu mo, mukashi no akiramete orimashita." And I was like, "Um, okay... that means... 'we are also married coulple, and we gave up a long time ago'... Uh... WHAT??!!"

And then Shima. Oh dear gawd... she was an odd one. My favorite picture of her is when the mom and dad are explaining that Miroku's treatment cost them a lot, and Shima's just sitting there off to the side with this doofy, idiotically sparkly grin on her face.

She just ain't quite right, now is she? XD

But all in all, THIS was indeed the best part of the chapter.

Rawr. I was trying SO hard not to laugh throughout this chapter... it actually had some really funny moments in it.

Like when Sango first came into the house and overheard Miroku talking about women's advances and Sango's "I'm not mad." while she's thinking, "Just die, idiot." *snigger*

Now I haven't given it a solid translation yet, but I got the jist of it. Heh, let's see Miroku deal with this one. Actually, I think it's SHIMA who's being more insistant than Miroku this time around. Miroku just seems to want to get rid of the youkai and let bygones be bygones when it comes to what he and Shima had, but she's the one who's begging the youkai not to take her as his bride.

And to be honest, the first thought I had was that nushi-sama reminded me of Chokyuukai, from anime episode 129... o.O Don't ask why. That and, for some reason, I'm imiagining him sounding like Mukotsu... XD

I like the next panel of that.

And hey! I'm starting to feel a lot better about the whole Miroku/Sango thing!! Why? Because Sango isn't just getting all depressed and mopey about Miroku's womanizing. Hell. This chick is just one of his many past aspirations. He hasn't flirted with in the chapter, really, but still, my girl Sango is (well, it seems like it) considering ending things between them. Right? I'm sure it's just gonna be a play on words, and when the next chapter comes out, she won't really have meant to end things with Miroku...

But still! Did you see his face? ha! "Don't come near me. Somehow, I knew. It doesn't look like it's working..."

Good for her!! Strong woman! Able to walk away for dignity's sake! I like the manga Sango much better than the anime Sango in these situations. When she feels she's been wronged, I'd much rather see her get quietly angry and take the steps to end it, than to hit him over the head for flirting, and then feeling sorry for herself later.

If Miroku thinks he's losing her, I imagine he'll scramble to do what he can to win her heart back. Hence, he'd be pining after HER for once. Me likes.

As for Miroku and Sango... how odd is it that the end of this chapter actually got me excited rather than upset? Knowing Takahashi, who doesn't like to drag this sort of thing out unless it involves Inuyasha and Kagome (in which case, drag, drag away), it probably won't happen, but I think I might actually like it if Miroku and Sango did break things off for a while. Not for too long; just enough to create some nice tension and angst between them for a few days or weeks or so, so that the characters can really get a chance to explore their feelings for each other, which is something I don't think Miroku and Sango have ever really done in the series. And then when everyone is angsted-out, just bring in another good old life-threatening situation to get them back together. There'd be some real potential in a storyline like that, I think... it's been done so many times, but never for these two characters, and I think every good romantic pair needs to have their relationship put to the test at least once... otherwise they'll never really know if it is going to work out.

Currently, I'm expecting that Takahashi is either going to pull off a much quicker version of the above, or the "it doesn't look like it's working" will turn out to be a play on words or something like Thunk said. However, one can still hope...

And while I loved the giant floaty Sango head of doom, I gotta say that the one thing that really cracked me up was the very last panel of this chapter. "Ah, what's going to happen with those two?" And meanwhile, Inuyasha is about to get swallowed whole by a giant catfish. ROFL... I think Kagome might be the biggest MiroSan fangirl of them all.

Speaking of chapter 344... well, the translation is just my interpretation of it. As with many translations, of course I need to sometimes deviate from total literalness, and then sometimes I'll realize something in hindsight. If anything, I'm REALLY learning how ambiguous languages can be. ;

Spex, that's GOOD point about Miroku and Sango. When I thought about that, there really HASN'T been that much tension, other than him being a flirt and her smacking him in return and being a bit annoyed and a bit hurt. She seems more furious and hurt than ever in this chapter. That sort of tension happens with Inuyasha and Kagome sometimes, too. And one time when it happened to those two, we got what was one of MY favorite Inu/Kag moments, that talk by the well, when they decide to stay together. I'm hoping that this situation with Sango and Miroku will work out like that as well.

Because I LOVE THOSE TWO! AHHH! I'd be so heartbroken if they broke it off!

This is another thing I realized in hindsight, which I added into the notes (those notes are basically me talking to myself...) but I translated something Shima said into "I promised myself to Miroku." because the literal translation of "binding with" didn't quite sound right, since she HADN'T married him... yet. Then I thought, and why is Shima's dad asking if it's true? Two thoughts: they're putting on an act (which might be the case), or by saying she's bound to him, Shima is implying that she's had sex with Miroku.

Which... I don't think happened. And Miroku seems so desparate to explain himself that... AAAAAAHHHHH!! I just wanna know if that line is implying anything more than I've said or not.

And yes. No romance is fun without serious tension. And I'd love to see some conflict. Complete with happy ending, and many many feel goods.

Chapter 345 is up at the adinuyasha ML. That was quick..

It doesn't seem to be as funny as 344 at first glance. However, someone who can actually read the thing might disagree. I like the cover though. Miroku and Sango looking dramatic and angsty. But Inuyasha, Kagome and Shippou are still gawking at the catfish's attempt to look angsty too.

Actually, I thought it was funnier than 344, simply because there wasn't quite as much tension brewing. Nushi-sama is just pathetic, and it's funny to see him get beat up.

The end cracked me up. Inu and Miroku go after Nushi-sama, and Miroku flattens the fish single-handedly after the fish proclaims that he will take Sango as his concubine. This just leaves Inuyasha standing on the shore, going, "Uh, what about MY turn? Hello?"

Well, Inu did get to punch the fish in the jaw, anyway. See Shippou, Kagome knows when to worry about him.

Um... ack, for the first time I'm a teeny bit at a loss for words.

Hmmm, I've been lurking in this topic for quite a while so I thought I might as well try and actually contribute something to the conversation for once.

I haven't had a chance to read the latest scanslations yet but the few scans that I've seen are pretty amusing so I'll check them out when I have more time.

Anyway, what I actually made this post for was to bring up a little idea/prediction that occured to me the other day:

Spectrum mentioned how there doesn't seem to have been much development plotwise lately but from looking at the the Mouryoumaru (sp?) chapters I think I have an idea of where Takahashi's going with all this. Remember the little scene where Kanna holds the baby up to Mouryoumaru's face and says something about giving him a soul? Well, maybe I'm reading into things too much but what if Mouryoumaru's purpose is to become the baby's new body? That would explain why Hakudoushi was so anxious to protect Mouryoumaru's body and why he went through all that trouble to create Mouryoumaru in the first place.

If this is the case then it seems to tie in pretty well with the theory that most of the main characters are going to play a part in Naraku's defeat rather than having him just be killed outright by a single character. I'm guessing that each "group" is going to go after a different part of Naraku so if the baby ends up with a new body then it'll provide whoever ends up going after him with more of a challenge. Which seems fair to me. Of course, I could be wrong but it does seem as if that's the purpose behind the whole Mouryoumaru thing and most of the "foreshadowing" in the latest chapters seems to link to the "Naraku being defeated by (nearly) everyone" theory.

Oh well, I think you can tell that I'm anxious for the story to start building up to its conclusion. It's nice to see little romantic moments and Nushi-sama did amuse me (*is very amused by Patches' picture*)but I can't help wishing that Takahashi, would well, start to get on with giving us some resolution. Yes, I'm an impatient little git.

So, any thoughts on the Mouryoumaru theory?
