On an unrelated note... I wonder what's keeping Chris this time? :P  Been two weeks now.

Maybe I need to complain in my blog again. Although, now that I'm getting scans well before he puts translations up, there's not a whole lot for me to complain about anymore, aside from maybe a more thorough translation ^_^*.

Thanks guys! Really appreciate the answering. Especially, I *must* get around to watching Tonari no Totoro. Especially because it involves things cute and furry. Saw the black balls and thought "conker" or "soot bunny". Either way, they're really cute. Hope Sengoku o-Togi Zoushi updates soon too. Really, really. The Evil Shippou story demands to be told!

Hey, isn't it another Sunday already? smile.gif
Kuro
Argh, HOW did I miss this line in the manga...

Those fuzzballs aren't chestnuts. In the previous panel, Sango feeds him sleeping drugs. When Shippou eats them, they start to work, but when he spits them out, they're those fuzzy things.

Eh-heh... actually, despite the name, Shonen Sunday comes out on Wednesdays. happy.gif
vampyrichamster
YES! And that's why, in the little panel to the left, it says there, I'm "Baka"! wink.gif

Which explains a few things, actually...like why the scans don't seem to go up on Sundays. Suddenly reminded me of that one scene in ep 117...was it...the one where Inuyasha and Kouga have a "Baaaaaaka" fight. The one with Kagome hugging, even.

Fuzzy sleeping drugs. Who woulda thought that? Thanks! wink.gif

...Are you telling me that Shippou spat up half-eaten sleeping drugs all over Inuyasha?

Holy crap... blink.gif laugh.gif

*LOL* YESH! That's basically what he did! XD

*gobble*
"They're working!"
"I'll catch him!"
*urk* *BLEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!*

Although... okay, I'm a doof and missed another small line. Here's my newer translation:

Sango DOES call them chestnuts, but they technically still are the sleeping drugs she made him eat. blink.gif XD

I haven't actually seen it yet, but I've read a little summary of this week's chapter: "Kieta Yama" ("Vanished Mountain"). Still no Kouga. At least, he wasn't mentioned in the two-line summary. What is it with Naraku and mountains, anyway? Apparently he's yoinked something called "Mamori Ishi" ("Protector Stone") from some youkai, who weren't terribly thrilled about that. And Shippou's still haunted by creepy-crawlies. Boogity boogity booooo!

Um, yeah. That doesn't tell me a whole lot without seeing it, and it's kinda hard to get a feel for what's going on from two lines of text. Hopefully Kuro-kuro can clear some stuff up later ^_^

Now that Chris is THREE weeks behind... -_-*
Kikyou
Well 335 is now out. Yaya Kagura and Kohaku start this one up. And the ever so creepy one makes an apperance! While the Inu gang is still hot on the trail...

Patches, I couldn't agree with you more, Naraku really does have a thing for mountains huh.gif
Patches
Can't... read... Chinese... ::falls over, eyes spinning::

So, wait, the parasitic bugs DON'T work for Naraku? Or was Kagura killing them just cuz? At least Kagura's back. Haven't seen her in a while.

Huh, and I was sure I was reading it wrong when part of the two-line summary translated as "mountain in the figure of a youkai". I though it must have meant that there were figures of youkai on the mountain, but noooooo, shows I should trust my first guess. ^_^* And now I understand what their "it reminds me of Housenki" comment was about. That thing has the same teeth. What's next, Ents?
Spectrum
Damn, that was a good chapter. (For some reason, I thought Takahashi's art was above-par, too. Maybe it's just because of Kagura's return... I thought she looked good in this chapter.) But I really need a translation for this one. Half of it seems to just be Kohaku angsting (man, he needs a hug) and him and Kagura discussing things. Most of it just left me guessing. ;_;

Oh well... regardless, I thought it kicked ass. That Mamori Ishi thing... is big. Very big. And he definitely seems to have the gang on their toes. (Though Shippou didn't seem very haunted to me. huh.gif )

Did anyone spot any saimyoushou hovering around the battle area in those last few pages? Because if there weren't any, I'm going to have to demand to know why the heck Miroku isn't just unleashing the kazaana on that guy. wink.gif
Kuro
Aaahhhhh!! I just got home with mine!! biggrin.gif You know, it's also been several months since Takahashi did a cover for Inuyasha. I think one should be due soon.

A few ads for the Inuyasha RPG... and a whoe buttload of ads for the new DVD, OST3 (which Hakubundo is NOT getting until next week, dammit... tongue.gif) and the anime episode...

I'll see if I can clairfy anything in a little bit. Time to read. happy.gif

Basically the first part is -

KAGURA: So you found an insect hive, Kohaku.
KOHAKU: Kagura...
KAGURA: What are these insects?
KOHAKU: They're parasites... but they're peculiar.

Meh, he just goes on about things we already know (ie. they feed off big youkai)

KAGURA: So what do you know, Kohaku.
KOHAKU: Eh?
KAGURA: Don't play dumb.
Why is that bastard Naraku giving us orders to kill those parasites first? <-- (this line I need to find a better way to explain, but basically she's noticed that Naraku placed an importantce on killing the parasites.)
KOHAKU: That... I don't know.
KAGURA: Oh, really?

I'll see what else I can clairfy in a little bit. happy.gif

(Though Shippou didn't seem very haunted to me. )

Eh, that part was probably just me doing a bad job separating summary from commentary. I get my information from blogs, and they don't always break things up in an obvious fashion. There was stuff that was obvious commentary (Naraku > Hakudoushi > Kanna > Kagura > Kohaku), but there was other stuff about Naraku luring out Kikyou (and why nothing's come of this yet), even though Kikyou wasn't in this chapter. Like I said, I was trying to make sense of the summary without actually seeing the chapter, so there's bound to be interpretation errors ^_^*

Erp! Another doodad:

Apparently on the 22nd of November, there's going to be a Shounen Sunday special thingy entitled "Tetsusaiga to Tenseiga". So, for those of you who get SS... maybe fill the rest of us peons in about this come that date?

Man, they're really churning out the Fluffy-related special things. It's starting to get a little overwhelming. He won't be quite as cool if he gets too much exposure.
Kuro
Oo! Yeah, I'll definitely keep an eye out for that when next month rolls around. Does it mention if it's going to be a whole publication, or an extra segment in the original SS? smile.gif

Shippou actually didn't have ANY lines this time around! o_O!! Poor thing!!

Let's see... let's see... Mamori Ishi is actually not the name of the youkai, it's the name of whatever was inside of the mountain youkai. The youkai himself doesn't seem to have a name, so I just called him Yama-guchi (the mountain-mouth ~ AHAHAHAHAHA... Ahahah... haha........... ha..................... sleep.gif ). Naraku woke him up from a 200-year sleep (ONLY 200 YEARS?? You mean that mountain was AWAKE 200 years before??!!) and like Patches mentioned, that REEEEEEEEALLY pissed Yama-guchi off.

Apparently Kagura was killing the parasites because Naraku gave them pressing orders to do so. That's something neither she nor Kohaku can understand. From the previous two chapters, Sango mentioned that the parasites feed off of large youkai, and she also believed that the hosts would likely die. But then they mention that there are no corpses, nor did Inuyasha smell any dead youkai. So it's unusual that there be so many parasites yet no dead host.

Kohaku thinks that Yama-guchi was the host. It seems to imply that Naraku's awakening of Yama-guchi and the fact that he wanted them to destroy all of the parasites first were interrelated, although I might be misreading/misinterpreting that.

And Hakudoushi is creeping me out. I think he's really suspicious of Kagura (naturally), but he seems to be especially malicious in this chapter. "I don't know why Naraku allows that woman to live..."

QUOTE

Ah. Let's see... I guess it's not clear from the pictures. smile.gif Yama-guchi isn't supposed to be an enemy. Miroku is saying in that last panel, "Don't kill him, Inuyasha. Hear what he has to say."
Spectrum
Ahhh... ::nods:: Okay, it's all making a lot more sense now. Thanks a lot, Kuro!

I don't... know. It's just subtitled as "Shounen Sunday comics special". I don't know enough about the publication to know whether this is a separate book or insert information.

Yes! Chris finally has translations for all three chapters up! He updated the volume scans and info page, too... there are a few new scans up that are pretty cool.

Chapter 336 should be interesting. I'm very curious to see if Inu-tachi can reason with the mountain-youkai, and what Naraku's plans are for this "protecting stone" he apparently took. And Hakudoushi raises a valid, if somewhat disturbing point... why has Naraku kept Kagura around all this time? Is he just toying with her for fun, believing that she's not a real threat, or is there something else? I just hope that he keeps her around a while longer, whatever the reason. Hakudoushi is scaring me. ;_;

Um, ack? Kuro, you're gonna have to fill us in pronto next week.

According to Shounen Sunday's website, the November 12th chapter of Inuyasha (i.e. chapter 337) will be in color (or, at least have a number of pages in color), and could also possibly be longer than the usual 18 pages. It's a special Inuyasha issue in honor of its seventh anniversary in serialization. And, oh my god, the cover art is adorable ^_^*. Chibis! Cake! Whee!

IPB Image

Also, in this particular chapter, we'll have a confrontation between... Kohaku and Kikyou?! Huh, I wonder if it's Kikyou who'll end up saving him. Or maybe he'll kill her. Heh heh.

There's also a mention of more movie information, but it doesn't look like anything new. Just a friendly reminder in case you've been living under a rock for the past half a year.

Oh and that "Tetsusaiga to Tenseiga" special thing is likely a separate book, considering it comes out on November 22nd... which is a Saturday ^_^*.

...eh??! :ph34r: ::falls over::

Wow... I never would have expected to see that. Well. My two favorite technically dead characters... should be interesting. wink.gif

I sure hope it's longer than 18 pages... the longer the better. biggrin.gif Can't believe they're up to the seventh anniversary already. I wonder how much longer it'll run.
Kuro
NGAHH! I was just mentioning to Roy that Inuyasha hadn't had any cover art since issue 20! "River of Blood," I believe. I should REALLY keep up on the SS site more often...

I'll definitely get up a bigger scan of the art and the color pages when it comes in! happy.gif

- EDIT -

I just realized that I might get SS in on Thursday next week instead of Wednesday since the 11th is a holiday here in the States... tongue.gif Ah well, I'll check with 'bundo's tomorrow.

CHAPTER 336

o_O! And here I was thinking that I'd be able to get by calling him "Yama-guchi!" AAHH! XD Turns out mountain youkai is named "Gakusanjin." Something like "Mountain Peak... person."

Aaaaaaahh!

*is dying while typing this and listening to the soundtrack all at once*

Well, looks like Miroku is the one to talk some sense into Yama.... Gakusanjin this time around. And the interesting development here is that they get youki crystals that Gakusanjin says can get rid of a "fuyouheki" (I haven't found a decent translation for that, but it seems to mean "anti demon-barrier.")

I'm thinkin'... "that was anti-climactic." hehehe. But then again, I need to go and read this a little more thoroguly.

Set up for next week's Kikyou-Kohaku chapter:

Kanna's hiding the baby. Kohaku gets orders to help Kanna protect the baby. Kohaku encounters Koucha and Asuka, and the final scene is him face-to-face with Kikyou.

"You're Naraku's..."

And that leaves us hanging for next week's special. o_O

- EDIT -

Read the title too fast. Heh-heh... GAKU-SAN-JIN.
Patches
Yeah, I saw the word "Fuyouheki" come up a couple times in various blogs and newsbits I read, but I couldn't put much meaning to it, either. Well, the three kanji are "anti demon wall", but I don't know how to combine those meanings. Is it an "Anti-Demon Wall", meaning it makes a demon-proof wall, or is it a "Anti Demon-Wall", which breaks down barriers put up by demons? I'm going to guess it's the latter, since Takahashi seems to have this thing for barriers and how to break them.

Although... I didn't think that barriers were any obstacle at this point, now that Inu has Kongousouha.

The chapter title was also predictable. Usually we're introduced to a nameless character in one chapter, and then the next chapter bears that character's name. Such is the case with "Gakusanjin". "Mountain Man", huh? If he starts yodeling, I'm going home.
Kuro
I was growing rather fond of calling him Yamaguchi. wink.gif

QUOTE(Patches @ Nov 5 2003, 04:33 PM)

I was wondering about that, too. Inu hasn't even used Kongousouha since he learned it, though. I'm just thinking it's because he knows it's overkill and only opts to use kaze no kizu instead.

The thing about Kongousouha is that it uses the diamonds from Housenki. Maybe the crystals are even more powerful. What Ya... Gaksanjin says is that it can also "return" the youki that's released. I'm not quite sure what that means, though.

Even Inuyasha mentions at one point "Is this why it's necessary to get rid of the youki?" Heh, maybe it is... wink.gif Either that, or I'm thinking that it's a key to getting the baby now that I read this over again. o.O

CHAPTER 336

Where?
Spectrum
I don't know if the scans are up anywhere yet... Kuro has her own subscription to SS, so she gets it before us, lucky girl that she is. tongue.gif

It does sound a tad anticlimatic after all the tension in the last chapter, but if it turned out that Gakusanjin could be reasoned with, I am glad Miroku was the one to do most of it. happy.gif Takahashi has been sort of ignoring him and Sango lately... again. ::shrug:: But she's got a lot of characters to handle these days...

Sounds like one heck of a setup for next week, too. So Kohaku-kun finally got sent to look after the baby, huh? Guess Naraku isn't on to him yet after all. But with Kikyou showing up, who knows what'll happen... blink.gif

Supposedly it's a barrier that hides demon energy. o.O

I'm trying to find the best way to translate the word. So far demon-hiding barrier seems to be the best bet. Gakusanjin was hidden from everyone because he had that stone that protected others from detecting his youki.

And so Kongousouha is moot point right now. The crystals don't erase youki, it's THEIR youki that disappears when it's close to the barrier. Gakusanjin gives it to Inuyasha as a fuyouheki detector. I misunderstood that part. I thought he said "When it gets close to a fuyouheki, it will make the youki disappear," but it was actually, "When it gets close to a fuyouheki, its youki will disappear." My bad. Read and posted too fast. dry.gif

W00t! And it's in Japanese, so I can actually read it! Sankyu, Kikyou!

Man, Naraku just has this thing for showing up randomly then running away a couple pages later. Dork. At least Fluffy got to be on a color page. Maybe that means he'll show up again shortly. Kouga wasn't there, though. He's just fallen off the face of the series, I guess.

They didn't have scans of the Movie 3 article, though. It's probably nothing exciting, but I heard that it mentioned Souryuuha.

Yeah, he did. He was using the power of that Fuyouheki to hide his youki, so Kikyou didn't even sense him pop up behind her.

And Kohaku's just gotten a whole lot cooler. And the baby a whole lot creepier. That last page translates something like:

Naraku: "This Fuyouheki will conceal your youki."

Naraku: "Its previous owner, the mountain youkai Gakusanjin, kept it in order to avoid unfavorable encounters."

Naraku: "How will you use it?"

Baby: "....." (EVIL GRIN)

God, even though he says ".....", the baby looks like he's really saying, "Oh, I dunno, I think I'll rip your head off first." Either that or he's gonna go TP a village.

I had a feeling that's what he was doing, because he came out of nowhere.

And whatever Kikyou and Inuyasha are talking about, she looks pissed. I don't think I've ever seen her show this emotion in a long time.

I have to say, I love how it was Sango who stepped in. It was good that it was her and not Inuyasha. She saved both Kohaku and Kikyou.

has been polluted by Naraku's jaki. His soul...
"
(for this next line, I can't really read it... but here goes nothing)
Why are you with Naraku? (see? it looks weird o_O)
Kohaku: "...ehhhh!? What... what is she...
why does she ask sucha thing?"
(then naraku pops up and has a happy party with Kikyou)

<insert boring chat with confusing Houshi comments>

(back to Kikyou and Naraku)
Naraku: Long time no see, eh? Kikyou.
Havn't seen you since Hakureizan
(sorry, it's 11.30 pm, no good words)
Kikyou: Naraku...
"I didn't notice him though he was right behind me.
I couldn't feel his presence...
and even now... why can't I sense Naraku's youki!?
What does this mean!?
"
Naraku: I'm more happy to see you it seems, Kikyou. (huh? o_O)
I wanted to meet you. (don't trust me, I just got bored o_O)
Kukukukukuku... (evil laughter, y'know o_O)
Kikyou: "I can't get a hold of the arrows..."

then Kohaku wonders why Kikyou is the only one who isn't afraid of Naraku,

Naraku: I'm more happy to see you it seems, Kikyou. (huh? o_O)
I wanted to meet you. (don't trust me, I just got bored o_O)

Not quite.

Naraku: "Kukuku... you should look happier than that, Kikyou.
After all, you did want to confront me."

And, actually, Kikyou's comment about Kohaku's shard was something like: "His shard has been polluted by Naraku's jaki, however, this boy's soul is..." I'm going to guess the rest of that sentece was "uncorrupted", but I don't know.

Let's see... Kikyou shoots her arrow, it doesn't kill him. Naraku squeezes her tighter, preventing her from attacking again. Then he tells Kohaku to take her head o_O. Kohaku hesitates, but then Sango steps in. Naraku does the whole vanishing act, and Kagome shoots at him and misses.

Kikyou's pissed that she didn't sense Naraku coming. Inuyasha and Miroku explain to her the Fuyouheki. Sango asks if Kohaku hurt her, to which Kikyou says no, and thinks to herself that Kohaku's eyes weren't those of someone who was under a spell.

So, Kagura and Kohaku fly off, and Kohaku mentions that the baby is nearby. Kagura's surprised that he's speaking so freely AND addressing her without an honorific. Kohaku bargains with Kagura that they should team up. Kagura agrees that she won't tell Naraku about Kohaku's insubordination, since they're pretty much in the same boat.

Then Kikyou and Inu are talking, and Kagome comments to herself that she gets to talk to Inuyasha all the time, while Kikyou doesn't see him as much, so it's only right that they should have their share of conversation time. Kikyou comments that her Shikigami were onto something before they were killed, and that even though Naraku was pierced with her arrow, he didn't die. His heart must be outside his body somewhere. Inuyasha figures that this must be what Naraku's trying to hide with the Fuyouheki.

Naraku goes to a cave to hang out with the baby and give him the aforementioned Fuyouheki. He queries how the baby's going to use it... and the baby just grins evilly.

...

Well, hope that's a bit of a help.
