Alright people, I know I've opened the can of worms. This isn't a "Who's your favorite" poll - post REASONS for your vote! Not just "Sesshoumaru would win because he r0x0rz" or "Kenshin's just too badass to win to a sissy like Sesshoumaru" or whatever. I really wanna see people's reasons for this!

And I voted for Kenshin... Kenshin has the best swordfighting skills I've ever witnessed in an anime, Toukijin's projectiles wouldn't be able to stand up to Kenshin's skill. Kenshin could just dodge them like he did with Raijuta (I think that was his name...) early in the series, and he could undoubtedly deflect any actual attacks that Sesshoumaru made with his sword. Let's face it - Sesshoumaru's cool, but his swordfighting skills just can't compare.

Now, lets take away the swords - Sess's claws couldn't get close enough to Kenshin to touch him. Sess has speed, but Kenshin can deal with speed. EX: Soujiro - you couldn't see him moving and Kenshin beat him anyway. Oooowned

Kenshin wouldn't kill him, you say? The Battousai would, though the Rurouni wouldn't. But who said killing someone was the only way to defeat someone? Unconsciousness works well ^^

Kenshin would win in a battle of SKILL,
but Sesshoumaru-sama would still be able to kill him.
He has his poison claw and all that... you know.
But Kenshin is one of the best swordsmen ever!

Anyway back to the point. I don't think Kenshin would be able to beat Sesshoumaru. I mean Kenshin's skills as a swordsman is legendary and all his foes have been humans who each have different techniques. Naturally of course Kenshin defeats them all. Then there is Kenshin's Master! That guy is totally amazing I think he could beat Kenshin he only trained him for like 10 years.

Now back to Sesshoumaru, which is a demon. One that can literally move at a thoughts notice. He has the ability to Levitate and fly. He has numerous attacks. I can't see how Kenshin would get close to Sesshoumaru. The sword force is ridiculous. I yet to see anyone withstand it, and not be hurt by its force. Kenshin cannot fly or move anywhere near as fast as a demon. As much as love Kenshin in all, there's no way. Man hate even saying Kenshin would lose but, it would be super hard for Kenshin to match up. Even with superior sword techniques, Sesshoumaru definitely is physically stronger than Kenshin. Plus both of these characters are smart and both of good fighting sense. So they try to avoid fighting.

Hmm time to compare:

Kenshin is said to move at god-like speed, and while a Demon may not be a god I think Sesshoumaru's speed would be about the same. So no real winner here.

Now their attacks, I don't think Kenshin's attacks would have much effect on Sesshoumaru seeing how their speed is equal he could either dodge them or deflect them with his own sword. I am not sure if Toukijin's attack can be dodged as I can't recall anyone dodging it but with Kenshin's speed I don't think it could actually touch him.

But there's one thing Kenshin probably won't be able to match up to, Sesshoumaru's trasformation. I really don't see him standing much of a chance against Sesshoumaru in his full demon force. He may have a chance with the same strategy he used against Senkaku but that depends on Sesshoumaru's speed in demonform.

I really think they are almost evenly matched except for the transformation then, so I vote for Sesshoumaru.

Sesshoumaru-sama's advantages: He is a demon "prince"... hehe.
He has his poison claw and two, I repeat TWO swords to work with...
one which will protect him and another one that is a real bad ass one.
Sesshoumaru-sama's disavantages: He only has one arm. ^^
He havn't had a bad as sword for too long, and Kenshin is faster.

Kenshin's advantages: He have been an Battousai for most of his life.
He has trained with the best sword fighter in the world... and he's cute.
And if Karou's there... almost getting hurt... he will probably kill Sesshoumaru...
Kenshin's disadvantages: He's human - Sesshoumaru's a demon. Go figure.
He is really short (like me! ^^) and Sesshoumaru-sama could just crush him.
He has only one sword... but of course, he has TWO arms... hehe.

Basically... I think Kenshin would win.
Even though Sesshoumaru-sama got his comrades,
and Jaken with the fire spitting Staff of Heads...
he could block that SO easily... because he's Kenshin! ^^

I know what you mean. I can't bellieve there are so many polls pitting Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru against various Kenshin characters and such. Sure, Kenshin's unbelievably good, and he'd win no problem against almost any human character I can think of. But the instant you throw in anyone who has youkai powers, all the rules change. I don't think anyone's even knocked Sesshoumaru unconscious before, not counting Inuyasha's one surprise attack with the Kaze no Kizu.

So I had to vote for Sess, even though he's only got one arm. Though I do wonder, though, is Kenshin really faster? I mean, can't Sesshoumaru move fast enough to turn into a ball of light at times?

Sesshoumaru would prolly beat kenshin cause even if he was going to lose he could transform into the dog and i dont think kenshin would be able to handle Sesshoumaru transformed.

Hiko Seijuro on the other hand doesnt have a problem with oversized foes and he would whoop Sesshoumarus ass.

Sesshomaru would win. Maybe Kenshin has better sword technique than Sesshomaru, but in the end, Kenshin is still human and represents the peak of human capability. Sesshomaru, on the other hand, pretty much represents the peak of demon capability, which means he's undoubtedly much faster, stronger, resistant to damage, etc.

I kinda think of it like DBA, where youkai = Saiyan and human = human. Sure, the strongest humans could be pretty badass (I think Krillin was the strongest human). But they simply weren't as strong as the Saiyans or Nameks or Androids or whatever.

And yes, Kenshin is described as having "beyond godlike speed". But if anyone in Kenshin's time ever saw pure and brute power and speed like Sessho's or even Inuyasha's, they wouldn't think of Kenshin as godlike anymore. Don't sell Sessho short just because the fight sequences in the Kenshin anime are a dozen times better than those in Inuyasha.

I mean, to defeat even the strongest of the Kenshin characters, all you need to do is hit them with a really fast swing from a dull blade (ie Kenshin's amakekeru). Guys like Inuyasha and Sesshomaru shrug off gigantic energy blasts that could blow away large buildings. Simply no comparison.

Yes, Fluffers ~evil snicker~ But as for the dog transformation... remember, Inuyasha cut off one of his arms (legs?) when he didn't even know what he was DOING with the Tetsusaiga. Now, Kenshin is faster than Inuyasha and he KNOWS what he's doing with that sakaba, so think of the damage he could do with that thing. And if he happened to be protecting a member of the Kenshin-gumi, particularly Kaoru, the Battousai could make an appearance - in which case Kenshin would cut Sesshoumaru - dog form or humanoid form - into pieces with the other side of the sakabatou. You know the Battosai wouldn't think twice about doing so - and (as we saw with Jin-e) Kenshin (the rurouni side of him) wouldn't have any say in the matter if someone he loved was in serious danger. He'd regret it later, but by then Fluffers would be dead ^_~

And I don't doubt that he would just walk away.... its not like Kenshin would chase after him. Very good question. Kenshin or Fluffy-sama??? But of course you must look at this logically. Kenshin has his God-like speed, not to mention all his super-cool moves. I've never seen anyone fight quite like Kenshin in an anime or manga and I doubt I ever will. I just don't think there is a way that Fluffy could beat him. Kenshin is awesome and that's all there is to it! Yay Kenshin!!!! ^-^

Yea thats how it goes with the people that havent seen alot of stuff and dont know what they are comparing.

I think Kenshin Characters are much more skilled than IY characters, The only one on IY that could stand up to characters like Saito, Aoshi, and Kenshin is Sesshoumaru. He is the only one that would make a fight out of it though i dont think he could take those guys. Hiko would kill them all 4 on 1 in my opinion.

And as far as the DBZ thing goes you could take every character from every anime ever put them all together and they wouldnt be able to even touch Goku. The only people that can fight with him are Vegeta and Gohan when he was a kid, nobody else would even get him excited to fight.

The closest thing ive seen to DBZ characters is Yusuke and Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho those guys are pretty dam powerful, but still pale in comparison.

i have to agree that dbz characters would kill anyone... but i think thats what made the series dumb after awhile... they just got too powerful i guess... it just became a "hey im stronger than you bitch!" thing....

Sesshoumaru-sama all the way. Kenshin is possibly one of the strongest human swordsmen in anime(exluding Hiko), but Sesshoumaru-sama is a TaiYoukia and the Demonlord of the West. Kenshin does have some cooler skills and styles but nothing matches the raw power Sesshoumaru-sama has.

Sesshoumaru would destroy Kenshin. Like it was said earlier just because the fight scenes in the anime are better does not mean anything as to actual abilities. Kenshins sword can not destory buildings like Sesshoumaru can so even if he was faster and got some hits on Sesshoumaru I doubt they would do that much damage. I have seen both animes btw and Kenshin does not stand a chance.

Yes, that was exactly my point earlier. Kenshin and company "look" a lot more skilled than Inuyasha and company because Rurouni Kenshin's fight scenes were so much better.

Let's put this in perspective. Kenshin had difficulty in defeating Aoshi, who in turn, had some difficulty in defeating an elderly geezer (Okina). The strongest guys in Rurouni Kenshin (Hiko, Shishio, etc) can be disabled by a single swipe of a dull blade. Kenshin had difficulty in defeating a German guy who carried a LANCE and rode a HORSE.

Meanwhile, Sesshomaru and Inuyasha can destroy dozens/hundreds, of enemies with a single blast/swipe/attack. They are both, at the very least, as fast as Sojiro. When Sesshomaru wants to move fast, he just moves around like an ephemeral blur, and Inuyasha has shown that, when motivated or angered, he can keep up with Sessho. They can leap from rooftop to rooftop as if they are playing hopscotch (that's how Inuyasha travels in Kagome's time, at least). Oh yeah, Sessho can also FLY. Sessho and Inuyasha have all sorts of ridiculously amazing magical aids and barriers (Tenseiga and Tetsuiagia's sheath).

It's just not a fair fight.

I agree that Sesshoumaru would beat Kenshin, mainly because he is probably faster and stronger. Kenshin looks faster in the scenes in Rurouni Kenshin but im gonna guess that he is not.

On the other hand Hiko Seijuro who let Kenshin hit him with the amakakeru ryu no hirameki would beat Sesshoumaru.

I can about gurantee hes faster, and look at the physique on Hiko the dude is probably 300 pounds rock solid muscle ill give him the edge in strength.

Have any of you ever seen Sesshoumaru do an attack that hits 9 spots simultaniously. Cause thats what Kuzu Ryu Sen does. I believe Hiko would beat him with this move. You cant compare the human to youkai thing cause its a different cartoon.

Shit humans in Yu Yu Hakusho and DBZ would crush all the kenshin and IY characters. Yusuke is human and so is Krillin. Good luck blocking a Keinzan disc with your toukijin Sesshoumaru.

Makes alot of sense to me Patrioil, Kenshin would spot him only have one arm in about 2 seconds and he would be great at exposing his weakness.

Hiten Mitsurgi would allow him to predict pretty much anything Sesshoumaru could do except for that dog transformation. Himura prolly never saw nothing like that in the revoulution.

Then again dumb ass IY beat him when he was transformed and i know the Hitokiri would whoop that hanyou.

As for the Nuriko stuff i aint never seen that anime, is it good anyone ill watch it next if so.

Hiten Mitsurugi would allow him to predict the moves of someone who is displaying emotion. Whens the last time anyone saw Sesshoumaru display any sort of emotion when fighting a human? Sure-- he got a little pissed with those cat demons but-- fighting Kenshin? I doubt Kenshin could predict Sess's moves at all.

Nuriko is from Fushigi Yuugi - The mysterious play.
If you want to see what it is, trust me, don't watch the anime.
The manga is a LOT better. The anime has no heart,
and it's pretty ugly animated too! ^^ Go read some books, boy.
Fushigi yuugi is one of the most well plotted manga in history!

Hiko may be a little better than Kenshin, but I still don't think he's strong enough or fast enough. Sessho may look like a girly man, but his physical strength is certain to be equal/greater than Inuyasha's, and Inuyasha is stronger than any human in Kenshin or Inuyasha. He can throw huge snake youkai over forests, he can run around carrying a huge boulder attached to his hand, etc etc.

And Kuzu Ryu Sen is a nice move, but it's not invincible. If you're fast enough, you can dodge it (Sojiro). An attack that's more powerful or faster than Kuzu Ryu Sen will beat it (Amakekeru). I'm certain that Sessho is fast enough to dodge it. And once Hiko or Kenshin commits to Kuzu Ryu Sen (or even Amakekeru), Sessho has an attack that can certainly overpower their final attacks (Tokujin blast or whatever). The final attacks of the Kenshin cast are not really tricky or anything, once they start their move, it's basically "Here I come, now stop me if you can". They all operate on that same principle: Amakekery Ryuno Hirameki, Aoshi's Kaiten Kenbu Rokukuren, Saito's Gatotsu, Sojiro's Shuntensatsu, etc etc.

True, the super humans in Kenshin are stronger than the super humans in IY (of the humans, probably only Bankotsu can compare?)... but I still don't think any of them are quite strong enough to defeat Sessho. The humans in Hakusho and DBZ are above and beyond the characters in Kenshin and IY, of course, they are ridiculously and insanely powerful.

So what? When you're fighting with weapons, you're using your weapon to fight, not your free/bare hand. So long as Sessho can wield his weapon effectively with just one hand (which he certainly seems capable of doing), I don't see why this would be considered a problem.

Nuriko is the greatest character in all of anime history! Actually... he and Kensin tie in my books. They're both sweet bishounen, and they're just all around cool - Nuriko has such an awesome personality (too hard to explain.... have to watch the anime/read the manga!). But I have to disagree with you, Patrioil-chan ^^;; I LOVED the Fushigi Yuugi anime. The animation was great and the work on behalf of the Seiyuu was perfect for the characters. The anime (ep 33 - the last part of Volume 8 and the beginning of Volume 9 in manga format) made me cry like a baby. Now, granted, the manga did have a few more parts to the storyline that were left out (the island with all the women), everything in the anime makes sense: All the ends were brought together in the end, and nothing was rushed. Fushigi Yuugi is my favorite anime/manga (love em both) of all time ^_~

Anyway.... as to the one armed thing... I take a swordfighting class. I have seen that fighting with two hands holding the sword when you strike makes your strikes far more powerful and aides in the balance of your body. Not to mention that Toukijin isn't a one handed sword - look at it: It's closer to the design of something like a broadsword.

So in this case, Kenshin's strength (aided by the fact that he can use BOTH arms) and his speed, as well as his incredible skill and the fact that he can read people's emotions (Sess shows them occasionally, you can't deny that), would triumph over Sesshoumaru.

Yusuke isnt human hes actually demon, and he comes complete with a demon form that looks awesome.

And I vote for Sesshoumaru-sama because I doubt that a regular sword could even hurt him when hes transformed. Also isnt Kenshin's godly speed from a humans perspective so Sesshoumaru-sama might be faster.

I'm more into manga. And I read the FY manga first.
And they leave out ONE important part in the anime!
The chat sections with Yuu Watase! I couldn't live without her!
She has the exact same personality as me (except that she's more girly...)
And yeah, Nuriko has a great personality. Even though I hated him at first.
But he really has many sides, and that's what makes him such a good charrie. ^^
But I would really recomend reading the manga instead of watching the anime.
But of course... I only saw the dubbed anime... maybe that's one reason to hate.
And if you don't read the manga you can't read the "Fushigi Akugi"!

It was so bad that I was *LAUGHING* during episode 33 when I should have been crying inconsolably like I normally did when watching the fansub. The dub lost all the heart and emotion that the fansub had, believe me! And I hated Nuriko at first too (like... really really hated, lol. Til I saw him throw the boulder at the mirror Miaka. Then I decided he was 'okay')... the first time I watched the series, I was totally into Tamahome. Then I watched it a second time and he was pretty much forgotten I realised the second time through that Nuriko was a much cooler character.... he's my lil bishie now ^_~ And the FA sections are hilarious! Same with the Yuu Watase chat sections.... gods, I need to find an FY forum..... >.>

This guy was worse than a youkai - he was put in front of a firing squad sort of deal and pumped full of lead. And THEN he was burnt to a crisp - and he's STILL walking around. If Sesshoumaru was shot a few dozen times and turned into Fluffy Bonfire, I doubt he'd get up and start walking around again. I also doubt he'd be in any kind of shape to fight. SOOO... Kenshin survived against Shishio (who spontaneously combusted in the end... HAHA, LOSER! O.O), there's no way he'd lose to Sesshoumaru)

I mean if it was "reality" then obviously DBZs gotta win. You see those crazy bastards blow up planets by smiling or something. You've got balls that make immortality. Inuyashas Sesshoumaru would come second due to him being demon and all and well, Kenshin may be cool, but hey it's not like this was based on a true story.

If Kenshin was based on a true story, then you could say "Kenshin was real, Goku wasn't" but in a battle of animes pretty much you go as far as what the author made go you. And right now, goku is like an avatar of god. I mean, the guy knocks universes around if he wanted to.

No real point in this. Just saying how it's absurd to compare to sorta realism anime to a unrealistic feudal fairy tale anime. It's just not comparable.

Yu Yu Hakusho has no less than 10 characters that wouldnt break a sweat against the Taiyoukai.

I think that the whole "Kenshin vs. Sesshoumaru" fight is like comparing apples and oranges, but if we're going to argue it anyway, the fruit that comes out on top is most certainly Sesshoumaru.

And here's why:

1) Sheer strength. As Sesshoumaru is taiyoukai, not only does he get the kick ass dog form, but he has super strength while he's in human form. He has no problems negotiating any situation involving strength (especially against a human), and without the use of one of his arms.

2) Speed. Now some pro-Kenshin-ites will say, "but Kenshin has god-like speed." However, god-like speed was used in context with Kenshin's era, and in comparison with other humans (not youkai). As we see, time and time again in IY, Sesshoumaru consistently is able to dodge attacks with blinding speed, much like the Hiten Mitsurugi does for Kenshin. Those people who argue that "god-like" is "god-like", regardless of context, I argue that Sesshoumaru and Kenshin would be at the same speed then, or very close.

3) Powers. While Kenshin's attacks using the Hiten Mitsurugi style are quite powerful, Sesshoumaru's abilities of speed, flight, transformation, and poison are considerably more useful, and more powerful. Kenshin's powers of prediction are quite accurate, but, as someone has mentioned before on this board (props to you), it is only useful with the display of emotion, which most that are familiar with Sesshoumaru know is not a problem. His stoicism is essentially a power in itself. Now, have the Battousai kill Rin in front of Sess, and the playing field may be a bit leveled, but I still argue Sesshoumaru's powers of flight as well as his kick-ass whip would set things straight. Not to mention, if Kenshin (or the Battousai, more likely) were to wound Sesshoumaru, either Tenseiga or his youkai regeneration will have him patched up in no time.

4) Weaponry. Hmm.. Toukijin, with its powerful "sword pressure" and extreme durability and strength, and Tenseiga, which, without being wielded, will protect Sesshoumaru from death (as seen when Inu Yasha uses Kaze no Kizu on him), versus a reverse-blade sword. I put my money on Sesshoumaru. While Kenshin may be able to evade the Toukijin's projectiles, as he did with Raijuta, the projectiles are a bit different, and may be faster than he can move. Either way, when it comes time to cross swords, Sess's strength and Toukijin's durability will destroy Kenshin.

This is all assuming, of course, that such a fight would occur. An overdone topic, I know, but I had to get my four cents in.

Hate to say it but even Bejiita as soon as we see him could slaugher Sesshoumaru-sama. Bejiita is already strong enough to blow up the planet and unfortunatly Sesshoumaru-sama cant even blow up a whole mountain without Tetsusiaga (sp?). However in coolness Bejiita doesnt stand a chance.

Guys like Hiei and Yusuke got some pretty badass power, far more than any anime excluding dbz, but Goku could blow up a planet with his index finger so no your not gonna find anybody else of that calibur.
