Well I have a feeling it will take atleast a half year if not a year or more before an episode is aired in Japan before it gets released on video/dvd here.. and I know I have problems waiting more then a day to check to see if I can watch the new ones, (something about me compulsively checking the site even if a new one came out yesterday.. just in case.

)
I think Cartoon Network has aired about 20 episodes or so, so it will be about 2 years before they get caught up
at 111 episodes, doing 4 episodes a DVD, releasing one DVD a month, thats about 24 months before DVD releases are caught up..
Besides that, the CN dubbing on Inu is just.. wrong, and neither of the above two versions have the nifty cultural references or terms like youki, hanyou, etc.

The american version of Inuyasha sucks.
I'm glad I live in Sweden so I don't have to deal with it.
That's why I've ordered the japanese IY manga.
I'd rather read it in japanese than english.
Because I hate that "bitch" is translated as "witch".

Hey all, although im speculating this myself but the joint still seems like its still going strong (

) and if we were worried a lot about the licensing we wouldnt of started in the first place
but of course if we get a letter to stop (or they take legal action) we definately have to stop...
We've definately thought about this over and over... thats why we get really mad at people who SELL our fansubs on ebay or whatever cuz not only will they make money off us... but if it gets into the hands of licensing companies... the seller doesnt get screwed its the source (namely us)... we gotta keep a low profile
Hence BOYCOTT selling of fansubs and keep it simple!

Well you can wait for the DVD's which will be so censored it'll make you sick. As I have compared the CN dubs to the fan-subbed one's. Their is such a huge difference when they have a character change what they are to say, I mean Inu swears when he's like REALLY pissed you never know that in the CN versions at all. It like changes the way interpret what the character is exp-ing. Its just better if they bleeped it out or something.
Plus I can't wait 24 months to catch up they decide to stop! Wouldn't' t that SUCK.

The worst thing about the CN versions, even worse than the censoring, is their pronunciation. Kiara is "kilala"? Um, okay. And Kohaku is so obviously voiced by a 20 year old effeminite man. Eh, dude? You don't sound like a kid. I could go on but I'm sure everyone here gets the point.

Viz has purchased episodes 1-52 of Inuyasha, so technically, we're not breaking U.S. copyright laws, but we are still breaking International copyright Laws, which the U.S. has signed.
Cartoon Network has only shown episodes 1-36, and they keep starting over at episode 1.

Are the american-released DVD's censored like the CN show? I know those DVD's have the japanese voice with subtitles(likely inferior to FGF's!

) So at least the dub can be avoided.

With most U.S. anime DVDs, there are "viewing angles." In a computer DVD-drive, you just have to change the viewing angle from 1 to 2 in order to get the Japanese animation (the angles usually are just to replace Japanese text in the show, but I believe that in Inuyasha, 1 will have no breasts, and 2 will). I suppose I can find my DVDs and check...

Lol. No breasts for the United states, eh? Yep, that's certainly nothing the kids in our country be exposed to in our daily mediaculture...

Well, not really. I mean, I don't think we're violating Viz's copyrights yet, but redistribution of Inuyasha (or any anime for that matter, licensed for domestic release or not) is a violation of international copyright and is against domestic US law. Keep that in mind.
That said, the reason fansubs still exist in the numbers they do is because the anime industry has traditionally respected them as a way to expand their market. We promote new series, get the fans interested in shows, and the companies license the popular ones and make money. But that only works if people buy domestic DVDs and merchandise. So if you're gonna spend money on anime, please buy legitimate DVDs - it makes everyone happy! And don't you dare pay money on ebay for our fansubs!!
