Well, the rumour's flying around the web quite fast, so I figured I'd post the link here too. From www.animenation.com's new's site: Sunrise announces end of Inuyasha anime in September. No I can't read Japanese well enough to figure out animenation's source...but I know there're are people here who can.

I don't know about the veracity of that site, but the original Japanese does seem to say that...

"ato Inuyasha kugatsu de owaru sou na" = After Inuyasha ends in September.

If it's true... *sigh*

I suppose this leaves open the possibility of the manga ending soon (unless they'll ignore it)... or the possibility that the anime series will conclude with the fourth movie that was just announced XD

Assuming there aren't any more 3 week breaks and that the September date is true, that leaves another 23 weeks until the end of September.

23 more episodes + the existing 147 = 170 episodes...

Well, I'm not going to worry about this until we get more credible word on whether or not it's really official. If it is... well, I'll be sorry to see it end (especially before it catches up to the manga, seeing as there's no way it can do that at the rate it's currently going), but it has had a nice, long run.

Seems pretty abrupt to end things now, though, so like I said... I'm holding off on saying anything until we can get it confirmed, or disproved. (Last time the rumor was that the series was going to end at 150, after all, and look how that turned out. )

I agree with you Spect. I'm not going to think to much about this until it's made official by Sunrise or something.

But then I haven't watched the anime in about six months so, for me, if it ends-it ends. But I know several people who'll be sad and upset if this turns out to be true.

well all i can say is it ia about time... i love this show but i really need it to end. the plot is slowing down too much :-)

According to IIFJ that is just a rumor and was posted anonymously. Check their Q&A for more on why they think it's bunk.
