Good ol' Inuyasha awesomeness from one of my favorite filler eps.

Hm... I haven't posted on this forum for a while, but here goes. This thread reminded me of the results of this year's Animedia Character Awards published in the February 2004 edition, Animedia being one of the three major anime magazines in Japan.

Anyway, I hope this hasn't been mentioned before (I scrolled through posts from January and didn't see it), but I bring this up because Inuyasha won the Hottest Character Award for the second year running at the very least(he lost his other two awards from last year though)... the article noted that he's won stuff for three years straight, but I don't have the February 2002 edition of Animedia.

He also featured in a few other categories, coming in third in the MVP category (something like the 'Best Overall'), second in the Strongest Character category (he was first last year), second in the Most Selfish Character category (again, he was first last year), sixth in the Most Foolish Character category.

Fluffy-fans have a small consolation too: he came in 10th in the Coolest Character category.

I like how there's a shirtless Inuyasha, and then....a random Shippou with a sweetpotato on a stick. *lol* And WHY is Kagome getting ready to throw water on him? Is he just TOO hot for her to handle and she's trying to put him out? o_O

It does seem to be the case. For some reason, Sesshoumaru has a stronger following among Western anime fans than he does with his home audience, while Inuyasha appears stronger at home. I follow Animedia, Animage and Newtype religiously, and Animedia is the only one that regularly gives decent coverage to Inuyasha as a series (though that's been slowing down a little lately, picking up only the past two months with the third movie's release and the awards issue). But the point is, in Animedia's monthly character rankings (which to my knowledge is also decided by reader vote, though not on the same scale as the annual awards), Sesshoumaru hasn't appeared in the top 30 in quite a while, while Inuyasha regularly floats about between anywhere from 13th to 4th position from month to month. In the February 2003 edition, Sesshie took 25th place in the monthly rankings.

But anyone visiting an English-based Inuyasha fansite or forum can easily see a very strong Sesshoumaru support base around these parts. Not that I'm saying anything about it. I'm firmly in the Inuyasha camp in terms of favourite character in the series, but Sesshie's fine and all too.



Yup, that picture's from the February 2003 edition, last year's Character Awards. It says 2002 in the top-left corner, but they vote for the series of 2002 in 2003, the series of 2003 in 2004, and so on.

I believe the reason given in the anime (yeah, since the Peach-Man episode took place a lot later in the anime canon than in the manga) was that she returned to her village to fix Hiraikotsu... or something like that. Then, she ran into those two wannabe-taijiya girls.

And yes, in episodes 57 and 58 Sango returned to her village to fix a crack in Hiraikotsu. And the peach man's name was Toukajin. I have those two episodes practically memorized; they're my favorite episodes of the whole series. Not only do we have totally hot human Inuyasha, but we have him without his red shirt on, which not just doubles, but TRIPLES the hotness. Now if only we could see human Inuyasha without ANY shirt on......
