Full Version: Question About Renaming Bt File
#Animeforever > General Discussion > ARGH!! I Don't Get It!!!
CrazyInuyasha
I changed the name of the latest Inu episode that I dled off of bittorrent, and I got an icon that is not associated with any file type. I then tried to reassociate the file with windows media player(WMP), but it stayed the same. I can still open it through WMP but I can no longer double click and open it.

Question - How do you get the file to associate with WMP?

I tried associating it through WMP by going to the options tab etc...
I have a feeling that I would have to edit something on the file properties?? (hmmmm...)

Xepheus! help me!

Umm...

No I don't think moving it to a different file folder would help me. I think I need to edit the file type some how.

But that, I have no clue how to do.

You've got to rename the file extension. If you're using Windows XP (if you're not you can still do this, but the steps might be a little different, I'm not sure), go to 'Tools', 'Folder Options', 'View' and deselect 'hide file extensions for known types.' Then go to your Inuyasha 112 file, and add .avi to the end of the file name. That ought to work... my computer immediately recognized the file then.

(And if your computer already displays the file extensions, you can skip all the stuff I just said and just rename the file. biggrin.gif )

This step is not needed.. If it doesn´t have an extension .avi for instance.. just rightclick the file or "slow-click" and add .avi
