(Sorry, it's in Japanese, and i'm a bad translator, so someone better can translate it!)

Ok, I'm new to LE and I just read this.... and...

Gah!!! Alex's ALIVE???!!! BANZAI!!!!! On the other hand, the blurb did seem to imply he might have been better off dead... anyone else with better Jap than I have?
RainaWallis
Hang on... the book is saying that Alex is alive? So what did Sophia bury? smile.gif Bits and pieces of Delphine? blink.gif

Wow, wouldn't that be irony! Delphine kills Yuris, who looks like Sophia, who inadvertently buries Delphine..... meanwhile Alex gets reconstructive surgery and ends up looking like Moran and tries to lead his lifestyle...... blink.gif

Dang, maybe I should write soap operas!
Malik Carr
Well, this is certainly a plot twist... How odd.
naga
Well, my Japanese is not that good, but the one who posted the webpage said something like this about the book -

'Alex's death in the end was was unfinished mystery, whether he is dead or alive.
'In conclusion, Alex is alive. Banzai' biggrin.gif (she said it, not me)
'But the anime's circumstance is completely different... so the ending is rather strange. No, maybe death would have been better' (not very sure about this, I'm somewhat confused too.'
'In addition, the place where Klaus lived (?) is indeed Earth.'

I have no idea what this book is, whether it's a novel tie-in, a re-write of the TV series, a continuation, or something else. Maybe the original poster can elaborate?

I still stand by anime's rule - 'if you don't see the corpse, s/he's not dead! And even if you did, s/he may still come back to live.'

... and then again I may simply still be in denial over Alex... :blue:
naga
As for the grave, I've always felt that it's an empty grave with a marker. After all, there's very little possibility that you can find one lone body in that mess of a shipwreck. They probably just put a headstone there for him, along with all the other fallen soldiers (the graveyard felt like a war memorial to me, e.g Arlington).
Malik Carr
Same goes from here. Ay, how these people love to play with our minds!!

Anyway. One thing I never got about the last episode was the brief scene showing a basic green Anatore vanship on the ground being knocked aside by Delphine's ship as it hit the ground. What purpose did that serve?!

...argh. Slightly agitated.
naga
About the vanship... maybe to symbolise all the Anatole vanships that fell during the assault? Or just to fill in the foreground? Of course, it could also be the creators messing a bit with our expectations by associating the fallen vanship with Alex. Bah.

There was even some people who thought that was Alex's dead body, wasn't it? I was so traumatized when I read that I had to go back and re-watch the scene just to make sure that no, that was *not* a body, darn it!
Sylf
Just a note.

The part the author said "Banzai" for is not for Alex, but for Dio.

Don't worry, you aren't the only one happy.gif

So... are you saying he's not alive? ;_; I don't wanna get my hopes up... (yes... I'm still the hopeless rabid Alex fangirl)

Where can I get this novel?
naga
I checked at Kinokuniya Japanese book store (yes, I checked, I was looking for the character artbook but no luck there). The clerk told me they have a 2 parter Japanese novels by the name Last Exile. You might want to try your bigger Japanese book store.

Is this book...a book? as in a novel?

And about that thing that looked like Alex's body...Someone tell me how it's a vanship? No matter how hard I look it looks like the torso part of a body, though I bet that's not what it was meant to be.
RainaWallis
Ooh!! I have a Kinokuniyua bookstore here in NYC, and another one nearby in NJ!

I MUST discover this myself! And then... I must somehow convince Sylf to read it and translate it so I can post the translation on my vanship...soaring website. biggrin.gif

So Dio DID really make it and we (I) werent' just hoping in vain?!

YAAAAAAAY~! IPB Image
Malik Carr
Err, I do believe that you'd be a minority in that aspect. Alex wasn't my favorite character, but he's definately the king of b'dassness in LE. Dio just creeped me out. I think he creeped Claus out as well. What a strange person!
maris
haha i LOVE Dio, he's one of my fave chars wub.gif ... but i always tend to like ppl (and anime chars) that are like meself. laugh.gif
Cyhirae
laugh.gif I've been in the minority for that from the moment he appeared, Malik. wink.gif I've a position to uphold as the main Dio-fangirl on the forum- self declared as it may be.

Maaaan.......I wanna read this novel now. *eyes her studies and just weeps* :blue: by the time I can actually READ it it'll probably be outta print... smiley_cry.gif mou...I hope ya can get it translated Raina. happy.gif! I wanna see! G'luck persuading Sylf!
maris
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GO DIO!!!! und since ya r the self-declared main Dio-fangirl... imma declare meself the main Lucciola-fangirl wub.gif . WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WE ROCK!!!! cool.gif DIO AND LUCCIOLA 4EVR!!!!!!!!! hahahahahahaha... *runs off to do something kerazy*
CipCrype
