Full Version: Ep 128: Funniest Filler Episode Ever!

Well, not quite. Shippou's Battle Royale was funnier, but still...

This was way, way too funny. The school play at the end was hilarious. I wish all the filler episodes were this funny.

But did anyone else notice the song the choir was singing gave us a couple curious hints about the Shikon jewel's nature? wink.gif
Hiten
I have a question: why the characters of the play had names like Escargot (slug in French) or Pannacotta (cooked cream in Italian)?
Shiori
I have no idea, but Escargot Pudding killed me because I kept thinking about "Snail Pudding"

I have to agree though, it was quite the hysterical episode, especially when Hojou and InuYasha squared off. I was thinking, Hojou is a dead man...
Moonbeamdanser
I LMAO throught the whole episode! Just the overdramatic, "I, Escargot Pudding-a, shall blah blah blah!" And Souta with his his version of Sankontessou. *starts laughing again*

I found it kind of odd though, that her family saw Inuyasha do all that and didn't really say much! I know I'd start looking at my daughter's teenageish male friend differently if he acted that way! o_O;;

"YOU. What do you think you are you doing." Up on stage. LMAO

It must be some Japanese gag cause I've seen that odd naming in another anime called, "Here is Greenwood." A bunch of high students doing a fantasy movie and the characters were called Lemon Herb and Cool Mint.
Sailor_Inu-lover
I don't know why they would bee called that. But when ever i heard them refer to kagome that way i cracked up. And poor Inuyasha didn't have a clue about what was going on. laugh.gif laugh.gif
That ep. cracked me up. laugh.gif
vampyrichamster
The food jokes gave me lockjaw from laughing. I just couldn't move after a while, and couldn't breathe. It felt reeeeally good. wink.gif

The entire ep seems to be a giant food joke though. Isn't the title itself "dried youkai" as in "Edible Dried Youkai"? The judicious use of pink backgrounds in the Houjo-Pumpkin segment was...just....wrong! tongue.gif

NO!!! ITS FORESHADOWING!!
RUMIKO WILL HAVE KAGOME AND HOUJOU END UP TOGETHER!!

*Sean cheers with joy!!* laugh.gif

This episode has me suspicious about the possible connection between Houjou and pumpkins. Is he trying to hint at some sort of pumpkin sandwich hybrid thing here? Further investigation is required... ::wanders off to plot::

(The entire ep was weird and hilarious. I loved it. biggrin.gif

"Piiiiiieeeeeerrrreee!!"

"Escargoooooooootttt!!"

laugh.gif Genius. Pure genius.)

Heh, I have yet to see this episode subbed, and I don't know if I ever will or not, but I'd kinda like to see how they translated some things. I understood most of what was going on (or rather, understood that I was supposed to be completely confused ^_^*).

What did they translate "Hannabaruto Pekopon" as, anyway?

Ani-Kraze had it as "Hannabart Pekopon." SaiyaMan translated it as "Han-Pekopon."

I figure that no matter how you translate it, Inuyasha had better think twice about letting Kagome name their kids. blink.gif tongue.gif

I've seen it subbed and unsubbed, and I truly loved it both ways, but I'm trying to make it my goal someday to be able to watch it unsubbed and get everything. Inuyasha is a buttload of good reasons to learn Japanese. *fiery Hamster determination*

I caught all the food names during the play when it was unsubbed, and thought that was cute...but somehow knowing the food jokes in the one liners was so much more...flooring. Escargot Pudding is certainly as bad as Kagome's gourmet ideas from the start. wink.gif

But I didn't get the pumpkin joke the first time. I kept thinking it was a Cinderella-esque malarky, and hey, it probably is still that too! Houjo-kun will never get Kagome, but he is the one hurdle Inuyasha will never surmount. For Houjo-kun is...a sensitive male! tongue.gif

I really didn't understand the pumpkin thing when I watched it raw. Houjou-kun just wanders up to Kagome, hands her a pumpkin, and says something along the lines that it's good for her health. Then he runs away and a bunch of sparkiles, and Kagome calls after him to not push himself too hard.

Oh, and what did Eri say shortly after that when she had the really scary face? I know it was a threat, but I didn't quite understad why.

She said that if Kagome screws the play up, she'll never forgive her. cool.gif

LOL. I kept thinking that "Pepokon" was really "Peppercorn" for some reason, even though the subs didn't say that. Went along with Escargot better. happy.gif

When Houjou-kun gave the pumpkin to kagome,
he said "You wont get nervouse on stage if u eat this"
and then kagome said "you mean that it wont make u nervouse if you think that the audience are pumkins"
and kagome tells him that she cant eat it raw, when he runs off lol...

Yeah, it was great, her grandfather would brandish the scrolls, Souta would go "Sankontessou" and her mom would just be "My my, that's my Souta".

Randomly acosting passing people in costumes.

I <3 this ep.

Inuyasha's sword shamed Houjou's! And because of this, we know that Kagome will choose Inuyasha... cause size matters. tongue.gif

Someone beat me with a otter or something.

::beats minimonk with an otter named James Rodriguez::

I like these episodes too, especially the sword part! XD
And that big koi (carp?) youkai XD man, that's too much!
I have yet to watch the subbed version too, of course...
ASNKgenius
I found this episode so funny because of the character's expressions. I was laughing my ass off whenever Souta was imitating Inuyasha and trying to kill the demons.. lol..

then there was Inuyasha pulling out his huge ass tetsiaga against Houji's small ass sword.. THat was classic.

overall, I like this filler but there are better ones coming up... *hint hint episode 132* smile.gif
Cillana
Yeah, that was great. I cracked up a lot. Loved the part where Inuyasha pulls out his huge tessaiga to "fight" with houjou. biggrin.gif The vegetable and catfish youkai were funny but I found it kind of disturbing when they had the catfish all sliced up at the end and it was still wiggling. unsure.gif

I forgot abotu the catfish. Funny how their last youkai was a helpless fish...

But it was great seeing Kagome's girls drag her away from Inuyasha. Though I'd like to have seen some embarassment on kagome's face when her girls ask her..

is that your bad ass bf?

If only that happened, I'd be laughing my ass off. rolleyes.gif she cant help but blush when they ask her that question.

Spoilers... (I'm sorry. I couldn't resist. ;_;)

In the manga, Kagome's friends have finally met the "bad-ass bf", just recently. And Kagome was embarassed out of her mind, believe me. biggrin.gif But it didn't go too badly, all things considered.

Unfortunately, it'll be a long while yet before we see it happen in the anime.

So many funny moments...

Kagome realising Inuyasha will fit in just fine, and seeing a Lum cosplayer walking down the hall.

Inuyasha getting involved with the play and doing the Kaze no Kizu in a school gymnasium. I loved the way they kept cutting away to show you he *really* did blow a hole in the roof. laugh.gif

The obvious comparing of the "swords" with Inuyasha and pumpkin boy.

The catfish on the roof then on a plate. Still squirming. Reminds me of that one Chinese dish... The catfish causing earthquakes thing comes from China BTW.

Escargot Pudding. Priceless. I figure to Japanese high school students, it sounds wonderfully exotic and exciting like Inuyasha does to us native English speakers. But to us, it's just another priceless Takehashi moment.

I liked the choir song singing about the Shikon jewel. It also explains the Shikon jewel is manipulating everyone to make itself whole again, so maybe Naraku isn't as in control as he thinks he is...

The Mushroom youkai gives a new meaning to eating some bad 'shrooms.

"Sankontessou!" Too cute. :-)

This ep was funny, but I think the ep with the two mikos-in-trainings was the funniest filler ep (paper doll Inuyasha and Kagome owned). And Souta doing sankontessou? Damn it, that was so cute, I almost threw up. And Kagome's scowling face when she "asked" Inuyasha to whisk her away from the stage? Priceless.

Yeah, but that was only one scene in the entire episode. This episode was wall-to-wall laughs. Still not as funny as Shippou's Battle Royale though...

Souten: "Koryu! You screwed up!"
Koryu: "I'm sorry, Souten-sama"

The delivery on that last line was hilarious.

Naw, I have to say that my favorite one is still probably Jaken's Tessaiga-Snatching operation.

I mean, HOW many episodes focus on Jaken? JAKEN! Everyone's favorite toad minion!! It was priceless! The smiths disguise, the Jan-Ken-Pon game, the NEKKID BOYS! AHAHAHA!

"SESHhhHoOOoUumaruUuU..." <-- I will SO need to make a clip of the way Inuyasha said that. It kills me every time. wink.gif

Yay, Jaken! For an episode focusing on Sessho's beloved minion, Sessho himself gets all of ONE LINE the entire episode! XD

Actually, my favorite part of episode 79 was, of all things, the episode preview for episode 80. I don't know why, but the very idea of Sesshoumaru and Jaken doing the teaser is downright hilarious.

Sesshoumaru: "Next time on Inuyasha! Sesshoumaru and the Abducted Rin!"

He's pitching his brother's show! And I thought he hated him. :P

Although Jaken (or the writers) needs to get with the times. Sesshoumaru gave up on Tetsusaiga 35 episodes ago.
Patrioil
XD The Jaken episode is pure gold! I love it la lot! tongue.gif
Especially when he has failed is plan with the swords,
and does the water thing... and Inuyasha mnetions
the sword sharpener and Jaken starts to disguise himself,
and Inuyasha goes "maybe not..." and Jaken de-disguises.
XD It's so damn hillarious, I fell to the floor... XD rofl

Still... I like the ... 69 (?) filler with Shouga, the flea,
when Inuyasha gets possesed, laughs and just changes
his facial expression and jumps away! XD roflmao XD
SaNkOn-TeSsOu
yes I agree 128 was by far the funniest filler episode.....I almost fell out my chair when Inuyasha jumped on stage to challenge Hojou-kun er... I mean Pierre... LOLZ
Spectrum
I have to go with Kuro on this one; 79 is still my favorite. It's probably the only filler ep I can watch over and over and over and not get tired of. (Not to mention I'm probably the only one here that was slightly disturbed by parts of episode 65... funny as it was, the possessed Inuyasha was kind of creepy. tongue.gif) And while 128 was good, it had its dull moments in between the really good stuff.

Episode 79, though, is gold all the way. My absolute favorite part is when Jaken gets his rear lit on fire, and runs screaming through the forest, "Ahh!!! Water, water, water, water!!!" until he reaches a cliff... at which point he runs right off in classic cartoon style, and hovers there a priceless moment before looking down...

His scream when he does is hands-down the Best. Jaken scene. Ever. laugh.gif

Ah... ::wipes away tears of laughter:: And I gotta give props to the Jan-Ken-Pon game too. Especially Miroku's sighing every time the others win. It's so pathetic it's adorable. biggrin.gif tongue.gif He's such a bad loser... "If you can't see her, there's no way to tell if she's cheating..."

That and his little "Ganbare, ganbare, Jaken!" song when he's sharpening all the weapons.

Teehee... that I also like. biggrin.gif It's so cute... and then Inu-tachi comes back and find him all worn out and leave him the nice thank-you note... it's one of the few times where I actually feel like hugging Jaken or patting him on the head or something. tongue.gif

Of course, then he wakes up (and completely misses the thank-you note tongue.gif) and panics and it's all back to business as usual. rolleyes.gif

You know, I'm almost dreading seeing this one when it's eventually dubbed. I don't mind the English Jaken VA, really, but he's already so outclassed by the Japanese seiyuu in this episode it seems like it'd be almost pointless to compare.

According to Kou-san.... a lot.

6/6 (Episode 79)
"Jaken no Tessaiga Buntori Sakusen"
[Jaken's Tessaiga-Snatching Operation]

Today's episode is all about the title. ^_^ I mean... don't you think it's self-explanatory?
When all I saw was the title, I couldn't help but to burst out laughing and wonder what sort of greatness we could expect from Jaken's Nagashima-san.
And, man, Chou-san didn't let me down at all. What a great guy.
Because this time was also a gag ad-lib extravaganza. ^_^
Okay, so let's lay out the "Rules of Inuyasha Gag Ad-Libbing".
There's actually a very firm rule about Inuyasha gag ad-libbing. That being:
"It must be ubiquitous!"
Ummmm.... that's tough. ^_^
"Ubiquitous" is supposed to mean that someone who's familiar with 10-20 years worth of material would understand the joke.
Sometime around when the Japanese World Cup was being held, an example of this comes to mind:
"Jidan's got dangerous legs!" [Japanese: "Jidan ga Jidanda!"]
However, this pun did not get the "ubiquitous" seal of approval. ^_^
Since someone who's watched for ten years would say, "Who's Jidan?" ^_^
Jokes about modern stuff don't really work, either.
You'd be surprised how hard it is to gag ad-lib effectively.
Of course, Chou-san can dance around this easily. He never fails to impress. ^_^

Episode 79 Notable Line

Rin: "Jaken-sama, how are you useful to Sesshoumaru-sama?"
It aaaall starts from there... ^_^

(In case you're confused, "Chou-san" is their nickname for Nagashima-san.)
Shiori
I too am a big fan of Episode 79. I just love Jaken's Tessaiga stealing fiasco. I like it so much, that I made this GIF a while back. So here it is for all the Jaken fans. tongue.gif

By the tessaiga fiasco are you refereing to the episode where jaken gets cut in half?

Anyways, what episode number was that?
Kagome
In the new opening theme...the first 3 words Inuyasha says..Hikari to..something..

Light and Darkness is what it means and I know Hikari is light and to is and..but whats darkness? It kinda sounds like katai or kakai..my friend says it sounds like kage..we dont exactly know alot of Japanese..but can someone help?

~Hanyou Neko Miko
Kuro
He says "hikari to kage," which means 'light and darkness (or shadow)."
Kirara
It sounds like kage to me. Definity not katai.
Kagome
Oh well..I was never good at spelling by hearing lol

Thanks Kuro and Kirara ^-^
Sandrock
It's definitely 'kage'. It does mean 'shadow' in a more literal way, since you have 'yami' for darkness. The Kraze version has it as 'darkness', while the Oukoku version has it as 'shadow'. Can't remember what Saiyaman has it as.

Sort of on the topic of fillers, I just re-watched 79-82 this afternoon, since that's my favorite part of the series so far (great filler and great canon), and noticed something that I can't believe I missed every other time I watched it.

The preview for episode 82 at the end of episode 81. Is it just me or... did Kappei and Satsuki switch characters for that preview? It sure as heck sounded like Inuyasha and Kagome doing each other's lines, and imitating each other's voices to boot.

And then of course there's the preview for 80 at the end of 79, where Sesshoumaru yells the episode title with Jaken groveling up a storm. I just find something ironically amusing about that. "Next time on Inuyasha!" ::cracks up::

Are there any other episode preview segments that particularly stand out in anyone else's minds?

Kinda off-show, I think Cowboy Bebop has the greatest episode previews ever. ^_^. Especially the one where Ein pitches the episode.
"Woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof!"
"Wow."
"Woof woof woof woof woof!"
"You don't say..."
"Woof woof woof woof woof woof!"
"Wow, this is gonna be a weird episode...."
"Next episode: Wild Horses!"
"Whoa.... Did he just talk?"
