It is almost impossible for me to pick one of these cause i really like all of them, i just really want to see which one of these guys will draw the most votes. I kno this is an IY forum so sesshoumaru will probably get a biased amount of votes but if i didnt put him on there this would be a totally unrealated topic and we wouldnt want that. Each of these characters in one way or another is able to frieghten people whether it be there awesome amount of power or how ridiculously intelligent they are, I love star wars and that makes this it tough not to pick Vader, but Sephiroth killed Aeris and nobody i mean nobody dreamed in a million years that that would happen so based on that fact and that Sephiroth looks the coolest i have to put him at the top of my list with Vader a close second.

I'll have to go with Joker. He was sick, manipulative, and psychotic. He killed Robin just for the heck of it, slaps Harley around, killed Gordan's wife, shot through Barbra's spine, and was willing to get himself killed, just to watch Superman suffer. Classic stuff.

I went with Apocalypse just for the heck of it. I've always liked the X-Men villains. Sinister and Magneto are classic baddies too, but Apocalypse is probably top anyway.

Vader is a very close second for me. I've been a SW fan as long as I can remember, and to me Darth Vader is one of the greatest villains of all time. Emperor Palpatine is a fantastic villain as well.

I do think Naraku ought to be an option, since he's more evil than Sesshoumaru (who's really more of a grey character) and is good enough that he's so far managed to elude all of the characters in Inuyasha.

Lastly, I have to give Dilandau from Escaflowne and Ganon from the Legend of Zelda a nod, even though they aren't up there, simply because they also come to mind for me when I think of the all-time greatest villains. There are tons of others... but it's too late for me to think right now. >_<

Being that this is an IY forum im surprised more of you havent voted for Sesshoumaru, since hes not really that big of a villain im glad you guys are showing intelligence, and Naraku is not on this list because i dont put lamos like him on a list of great villains since his only move is turning into smoke or some stupid looking scorpion. I guess the fact that naraku is so gay makes him all that much more hateable.

Well, I have to disagree here. Take a look at how many people's lives he's ruined. Look at how many strong demons he's managed to control or at least manipulate--Sesshoumaru included, though not for long. Look at how many times he's managed to get away, how many jewel shards he's obtained, how dangerous he's becoming, and especially how many people he's managed to piss off. That's one way to measure true villainy--how many people hate the guy's guts?

Plus, Naraku is a coward and has no sense of honor--if he sees he's outnumbered or in trouble, he'll run away to fight another day. And most of the time, he gets his underlings to fight for him. If he were a good guy, that'd be downright pathetic; as it is, those qualities suit him perfectly. He's smart enough to know when he's temporarily beaten, and smart enough not to take unnecessary risks... great qualities for a villain as slimy as him. Not to mention he makes it that more frustrating for the good guys. I'd say as far as villains go, Naraku's definitely one of the best... er, worst.

Anyway, having had a chance to sleep on the matter, I've remembered a few more of my favorite baddies... figured I might as well list mention them even though some aren't quite as powerful or evil as the villains already listed: Fuuma from X (he gets extra points for being part of one of the greatest twists in any anime); Knives and Legato from Trigun; Nakago from Fushigi Yuugi (in a series where the bad guys actually manage to kill a bunch of the good guys, he's the baddest of the bad); Vegeta from DBZ (points for being one of the only worthwhile characters in the series); and Vicious from Cowboy Bebop. And from non-anime: Agent Smith from The Matrix (points for just being... cool), and... Mr. Burns from The Simpsons.

Actually... there are a helluva lot of bad guys out there. Good guys have their work cut out for them.

Okay, understand we are walking out of the anime world and into the life of the BEAUTIFUL video game world.

Sephiroth is God… He is all-powerful and all knowing. Fear him and tremble in his presents. Sesshoumaru is dirt when it comes to him; he is by far the greatest thing to come to video games next to Link. That is all I have to say.

LoL well said midnight and as for u spectrum ill change my reason for naraku being on this list, hes a total homo hes never done anything that was remotely cool in my opinion his attacks are lame and the only person i remember seeing him kill so far is kikyou so compared to the other total gangsters on my list hes a joke.

Hm... I like the Joker, but he often mess up.
Naraku may not have many moves (unless the kugutsu),
but he's smart (I think) and let others do his dirty work.
And maybe he needs a good enough reason to kill...
I don't think he'd ever do it just for fun. But what do I know.

My vote is the Joker he has been the best. Check out the World's Finest episodes or the comics. Or when he comes back in Batman Beyond as a memory chip in the grown up Robin. Just Psychotic. I also think his side kick/ GF? Harley Quin is great especially when she fights Mercy or Merci (I dunno) in "World's finest".

Anyways, my vote for Agent Smith!

"Miiiiiiiiister Annnnnderson..." Yeah, Agent Smith is definitely up there on my list after Matrix Reloaded. (He was one of the only things that kept the movie from being disappointing. Those awesome twins being the other thing. ~_^)

And seeing as I just read Harry Potter 5, it occurs to me that Voldemort is also very cool. Well... starting from book 4, anyway (before then, he was more like a bumbling Scooby-Doo villain than anything else...).

So that harry potter stuff actually begins to get cool,

Does he ever start using like cool magic attacks or anything.
Cause i have seen those first two movies and to me its about as cool as pokemon.

Which means so far sooooo lame.

They get progressively better as the series goes on. Book three starts out slow as well, but has a really cool climax. (Cool magical attacks included.) On the whole, though, it's more mature but still much the same fare as the first two. Starting from the latter half of book four, and especially the climax of that book, however, the series takes a huge turn down a decidedly darker path. Book five is dark, suspenseful, and cool the whole way through; there are wizard duels and such, lots of new magic, people die, etc.

The first two books got PG ratings when they became movies, and maybe the third will as well, but if 4 and 5 stay true to the books, they'll definitely be PG-13 at least. Not so much kiddie stuff any more.

I'm bying book 5 today! I can't wait to se who dies...
I have my thoughts about it though... well well.

So far book 2 and 4 is the best... can't decide.

And I can't see why so many dislike Shippou?
I thought I were gonna dislike him in the beginning,
but when he appeared in that "Jigglypuff" form and bit IY's head...
I was laughing SO hard! And his voice is so adorable!
I love the screams he makes when Inuyasha hits him. ^^

I picked the joker. He kills people b/c he finds it fun -- but he doesn't just kill them. Sometimes he'll sadistically put them in tourture for the rest of their lives, like eternal laughter. The only thing worse than someone chemically gassing you to pain/death is to have them manically laugh while they do it.

But he also fucks with people's minds, and that's even worse than death. Personality reconstruction and removing someone's dignity -- the guys a pretty sick character. Perfect counter for Batman.

And now I will counter all the others to make my argument look better

He's not a bad guy anymore -- he's just confused about his stance on humans. That or I think he just has too much pride.

Darth Vader
He wasn't bad either, just manipulated. By the end he had a refformation and saved his son.

Sephiroth
Was too whiney for me. "Ono, I have alien genes in me, better kill the entire planet." Cloud was whiney too tho, so that's probably why Seph looked a lot cooler. Plus you lose a lot of respect for the guy (through no fault of his own) when you have 3029234234252 13 year olds using him as a screen name.

Apocalypse
The standard "this person is invinsible" is kind of lame to me. Reminds of when I was 7 and playing guns or something with friends and they'd pull the, "that hit didn't count cuz I have invincibility shield on."

Sauron
Yea, he's pretty evil I guess. But in the LOTR universe he's weaksauce compared to who came before him. He's pretty scary, but too standard "I SHALL RULE THE WORLD" -- it's been done.

Kind of like Rasputin. H'e pretty cool. I'd probably put him 2nd after joker.

I never met the guy. I don't remeber him from Metal Gear Solid, so he must of been in the 2nd one. That being the case, he was beaten by someone with a mullet, so he couldn't be THAT strong (I'm assuming Snake won -- hell I could be wrong about this entire paragraph tho).

Aka Commander Cobra (I swear they had the same VA). He sucked at life, then he died and he sucked at death.

i have beaten FFVii about 10 times id say, i have every thing in the game everything. Knights of the round Omnislash level 99 with all characters double cut materia quad magic you name it i have it final attack revive on all 3 of my charaters

That's where were differnt. I think Kefka is the greatest Final Fantasy villain of all time, and I think ff6 is a better game than final fantasy7. Of course I think a lot of 2d games are better than 3d ones -- but I'm about gameplay over eye candy.

dont get me wrong FF 3 or 6 o whatever you wanna call it is a great game, i just like the characters better in 7.

Cloud is very cool, barrett is the man, Vincent and Cid are awesome characters, even the chicks like Tifa and aeris are cool.

And Sephiroth would absoulutely slice and dice Kefka.

Maybe its just me but i think Kefka was gay. I think he wanted to get in Lockes pants that was his true goal.

Yes! I get to break the tie between Sauron and Sephiroth in favor of Sephiroth. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge LOTR fan but Sephiroth takes top honors in my book as Greatest Villain. Sauron is also great but, like Vader, he is really just a very powerful, very evil henchman. Morgoth was the original villain in the world of LOTR although not nearly as famous as Sauron. I choose Sephiroth because never have I actually hated a character as much as I hated Sephiroth. I first saw the FMV of Aeris' death at a friend's house since I didn't have PSX yet. When I finally played through the game myself I got Aeris' level 4(I think, whatever is the highest) limit breaker because I knew she was going down. Even knowing it was coming, when she died I still wanted to sit and play straight to the end. Also, the ending of FFVII when Cloud takes out Sephiroth with his limit breaker was great... I need to play that game again...

Morgoth has Sauron beaten with a stick. For anyone who has read anything by Tolkien beyond the LOTR trio Morgoth is actually valar or god like thing and the Mair (which is what Sauron is were thier servents....) Granted Sauron was a bad ass servent of Morgoths and infact pretty much his right hand man untill... The rest of the important Valar came and womped Morgoth... Then decided to disapear from happenings on earth with the exception of sending some other Mair to help (Gandolf and the other wizards.)

I might have spelled some the Mair wrong but if you know what I am talking about then it probably wont matter much and if you dont know what I am talking about well then it probably wont matter much... Its late...
