I was, for some reason, thinking quite intently the other day about the characters in Inuyasha and how cool they are. I've decided that Sango is probably the most amazing out of the main six. I know not very many people think that much of her, and some people find her abnoxious, but I really like her.

Ok, first of all, the chics ENTIRE VILLAGE was wiped out in one day. And she watched her little brother kill her father and commrads. Thats not so much the amazing thing...the amazing thing is how well she's handling it. I mean thats enough to drive any human being over the edge five times. I mean, yeah she's deperessed about it and it took her a few days to physically recover. But she was so strong being able to accept that everyone was dead and her brother had been used as a puppet and SHE had to go kill a huge creepy demon unlike any she'd ever even encountered before. Thats like...damn. And maybe it's not strength...maybe it's something else..but whatever it is, it's amazing!

Not to mention she's totally hardcore when it comes to fighting. Her style is so unique too. She fights with a HUGE BOOMERANG...and it's made of demon bone. Thats so...awesome! Remember the first time Miroku picked up the hiraikotsu? He had trouble at first because he didnt think it was going to be as heavy as it was and he thinks something like "Wow, Sango carries this around all the time??" You have to give her credit for being so strong and tough, and GREAT in battle. I guess I just have a thing for strong women, especially in anime. I just think it's so cool to see a woman kicking hardcore ass

Another reason why I love her so much is because she is just so damn cute. Yesh, she is, dont deny it. I love in the first episode that you see her right after she changes in her "normal" clothes. Which btw dont seem like any other outfit on any of the women in any other sries I've seen. It's like a kimono..but then..a skirt..and an apron or something...and then she has the sexy-fighting-suit on underneath. It's cool.

She's so cute with Miroku too. I guess her being a little slap-happy with him could be concieved as mean or cold, but there are two other ways that I like to look at it. First is, uhm, she totally deserves to slap Miroku because he's always being a pervert, and sometimes thats just not cool Unless you're Miroku (this is my second way to look at it, btw) and the whole thing is a type of unsaid show of affection and flirting.
So yeah..I think I've made all my points. I really love Sango...to itty bitty pieces

I agree, I'm a big Sango fan. I think I first really started to like her when she literally pulled herself out of her own grave even with all of her wounds, and having just seen all of her comrades killed by Kohaku. "I'm alive... I will not die!!" I was just sitting there with my mouth open like so, , thinking... "Damn." And the first time we got to see her in action fighting alongside Inu-tachi in episode 27 (with the fake water god) was very cool too. That battle still ranks right up there with my favorites--it's one of the best team efforts in the series. And of course, she's had a million awesome moments since.

So yeah... she's very strong, and I really like that in a character, especially because she stands out from all of the other kidnapped-every-other-week supposed anime "heroines." And she's got great theme music. And I think her little brother is positively adorable. And... yeah... she rocks.

She is awesome and stronger than she looks. I don't know how much her boomerang weighs, but I imagine Miroku weighs more than it. There's that one scene (ep123 or 124) where they both fall into the pit and Sango saved Miroku's life. She was holding him up by one hand. Wow. I wish there were more battle scenes with her. Her fighting style can be very artistic like in ep 78. And her theme is one of my favorite (along with kazaana). I like to see her use her katana more too. I bet her sword skills are better than inuyasha.

Well, Sango should use a sword more. I really wanna se more of her sword skills.
And I love her packing skills, I mean, to fit her normal clothes inside her "battlesuit" without it noticing is quite awsome!

That's a quote I thought of when I thought of Sango's character. I used it in a banner tribute to her for a while. Sango IS my favorite female in any anime.

In a heartbeat, Sango learned that her entire village, her family, and her friends had been wiped out by youkai. And then she learned that the entire plan was carried out by Naraku. Her only brother, kept alive by a single shikon no kakkera, and wiped of his memories in order to become a puppet for Naraku...

She had to force herself to be strong and go on despite those circumstances.

I think that was one of the things that made Sango one of my favorites in Inuyasha. I really like her strength. She's more wary of her surroundings and not as naeive as Kagome. Would I have been able to come to terms with that loss if I were in Sango's position?

I don't know if I ever could. Of course, her circumstances are extreme, but trying to imagine what it would be like to be the last survivor of that massacre... I'd probably crack. I think one thing I admired about Sango was her resolve. She made a big impression on me when she wanted to leave her friends behind because of the fear she had that she might betray them. And that's where the "you're not alone" theme came into play.

"Why would you want to stick with me... even though this battle was my fault?"
"Because you can't do this alone."

I'm sure Sango has a bit of that eating at her every day. But throughout the series, she truly seems to have found a reason to live, which isn't just for revenge against Naraku. I'm not sure what it is... Miroku, maybe? Heehee.

And as far as her sword skills...? Should I REAAALLY start commenting on that? o_O! :ph34r:

I always impressed with her packing skills too. And man... she puts away her regular clothes so fast! I wish I had those kind of changing skills; they'd be useful when I was running late for school... like everyday.

I like how Sango's slapping of Miroku has evolved from annoyance to flirting. When was it that she was slapping him and then showed him her palm in prove of a bug? I think that's cute.

And... wait, this potentially could be a spoiler... if you haven't seen 115 and above, don't read the said below... I can't figure out how change the color. O_O

When they are in Mt. Hakurei, and Miroku is super poisoned and tells Sango "Please, survive this for me." Then she cries "NO! If you can't come with me...Then at least let me die with you!!" and then throws herself on him. That's priceless. And what's even more priceless is when he tells her like a minute later, "Looks like we won't have to die together" and she looks around blushing thinking "Did I say something?"

That is adorable.

So yeah, me loves Sango.

And she's got smashing eyeliner!

Anyone who dislikes Sango has some self-educating to do. It's so obvious how incredibly awesome she is it doesn't even need a thread. What I liked most about her at first, was the distinctive dual personality type. She's modest, delicate, and well-mannered while being tough and assertive at the same time. Not to mention she has a great sense of humor. ^^ Above all, she never bores.

yeah, sango's the bomb. spunky, tough, and cute. she probably has the most grabbable ass, too, judging from Miroku's preference for her.

yeah, and what's she doing with eyeliner??? Did eyeliner exist back then??? She and Kagura may have been the pioneers of eyeliner back in the day!

Yeah, I admire Sango for her ability to cope with her situations and flow with them like she had been expecting them. I forget which episode it was, but when she and Miroku were making thier way up through Mt. Hakurei to meet Hakushi-shounen, the path suddenly crumbled. She immediatly took her boomerang and hurled it into the opposite side, then swung over and used it as a step. Miroku was just like...

And I had a similar expression. She's such a strong character, and kick-ass too! There are waaaay too many damsels in distress and I'm glad to see a fighting woman.

yep-- eyeliner's been around since ancient egypt. actually lead poisoning from various lead-containing makeup was responsible for a lot of death, they find bones with serious lead deposits on them still....

I never wondered WHY they were eyeshadow...what makes me wonder is why everyone who wears eyeshadow in the manga, also wears it in the anime, except for Kagome. It's like when they were passing out the eyeshadow to the anime characters Kagome walked up and was just like, "green please" and they were like "NO!"!!! Hmph.


And yes, I'd LOVE to see Sango bust out that Katana more often, it's so cool. I really like it also, when she uses that blade hidden in her sleeve. it like comes out of nowhere, it's crazy!

Sango is also my favorite.

I love her duality - she is so incredibly strong and assertive when it comes to physical battles and fighting, and yet in social situations, she tends to be as shy as a wallflower.

She will stand up to any demon and not even flinch, but let Miroku say something nice about her, and she blushes beet red and stammers like an idiot.

I adore Sango.

Sango does look a bit damsel-y, but one of the reasons I love 118 so much is because she's so kickass that she rarely gets put in a damsel position, so that makes it all the more nice when Miroku gets to rescue her for a change.

Ah, Sango. This thread is very far overdue! Normally I'd try (and fail) to come up with something intelligent to add, but all I can do is blather... I agree with everyone else, Sango rocks hard-freaking-core.

On another note, what does everyone think about her relationship with Miroku? Am I destined to be the only one who is a little dubious? I'll admit I've got a definite Sango-bias, but I find myself more and more annoyed with the way their relationship is progressing (or not progressing). I mean, Miroku is a great character. Don't get me wrong. It's just that if he doesn't get off his ass and agree to be *hers* and hers alone, I'm going to kill him ;;; Sango has gone through too much heartbreak in her life to deserve a guy who won't commit. Although it IS amusing and she definitely likes him, it also obviously bothers her that he won't keep his hands off other women. I think he either needs to make a serious change or back off >:-O

i do like sango. SHe's got this charming persona of a youkai exterminator serious about doing her job: protecting hte innocent and stopping the perverted monk from getting his way...

You know, it wasn't all that long ago when I completely agreed. Though I actually have a Miroku-bias , so I wasn't really annoyed with him so much as I was annoyed with the both of them. By the time the whole Oni-Women story arc in the manga came along, I was so sick of their relationship never going anywhere that I was about ready to give up on them altogether... thankfully, it was the aforementioned story arc that finally changed things around. (And I'm still counting down until we finally get to see it in the anime...)

Do you guys realize, though, that since chapter 292 of the manga, Miroku hasn't groped Sango at all? (Unless I've completely missed or forgotten something, in which case someone please correct me... I need to go back and scan all those chapters again just to be sure.) He hasn't flirted with any other women, either. In short... he more or less has decided to commit to her. I've wondered about that non-groping, too! Though it also seems to me that ever since then, Miroku and Sango also seem a little closer and more inseperable than before. In fact, the last chapter with Kohaku kind of reaffirmed that fact in my mind, seeing how he comforted her the way he did as she was recovering from her wounds from the rats.

And that's why I love Miroku! Mweeheehee!!

But, if they follow the way the way things have happened to all other couples in this series, they'll be romantic for an episode or two and then it will be as if nothing ever happened.

I definitely understand people not wanting to read spoilers, though. It just gets frustrating when your only way to defend something is to refer to something that's happened in the manga. Anyway...

I'd definitely say that if I could describe myself as any Inuyasha cast person it would be Sango. Am I right? I mean I am very strong emotionally and physically. I only have one problem, I don't have any Miroku . Hey cute guy, who grabs your butt, whats not to like? Though I've never been butt groped. I wouldn't really mind. I know guys just do that to see the reaction.

Didn't read the whole thread, but I saw the title, cheered, and thought I'd add my two cents.

Sango is amazing. She has had the most to overcome, in my opinion. And yet she somehow comes out of it sane, compassionate, driven...

And what a kick ass chick! There's some great action shots of her on my site from Enkida... (site's down until November 1st. Darn bandwidth...)

And some of the most emotional moments during the series is when Sango is facing Kohaku. Her inner conflict is palpable. She's shy and pleasant most of the time, but does a total 180 when in battle. Yeah. She rocks. And what an ally to have!

Thunk I love that picture in your sig. But Sango and Sesshomaru is definitly a new one to me. *laughs* Poor Miroku.

I love writing alt. pairing fics for the challenge. Putting Kouga and Kagura together was the toughest fic I ever took on! But Irka-chan, bless her, drew it up for my Inuyasha series. I figured it'd serve as shock value, if nothing else. But isn't she awesome?
