This will eventually go in the forum rules too, but since no one is reading them (or rather, people are not very likely to go back and RE-read them), they'll be a separate post here. In hindsight, it should have occurred to me that this need laying out--heck, some people here might never have participated in a web forum before. That said...
1) No one-liners.
I had hoped this was obvious, but I forgot about the tendency for forums (esp. those with polls) to have "Who is your favorite ___?" Well, to be honest, unless you have something more constructive to post than "Sesshoumaru RULES!"...please don't
IF YOU DON'T WRITE MORE THAN ONE LINE OF TEXT PER POST, BAKA DESHI WILL BITE YOU!
This also covers 'pointless' posting. If you have nothing more to say on a poll post than "I voted __!", then don't say it. You can always post something like "I voted for ___, because I find the character to be really unique. In episode ___..." and so on. That allows others to start conversation. But a simple statement "I like Kikyou" isn't very useful. I mean, I like cheese, but you don't see me posting that, now do you?
2) No chat-room stuff.
This should also be obvious, but I suppose it isn't since a) the forum is small yet, and and
Bakadeshi: Man, I hate Kikyou, she sucks.
Accela: Hey baka! You suck! And Sango is mine.
Bakadeshi: Oh yeah? BRING IT! I will END you!
...and so on. Basically, don't talk back and forth to your friends on a thread unless you're contributing something others might be interested in too. (You can always send a "private message" if you want.)
Also under this rule: no "my download speed sucks/kicks ass" posts or "I had chilli for dinner!" threads. Nobody really cares.
There...if we all follow these little etiquette rules, the forums might get a lot more bearable...or maybe not, but at least I warned you first ^_~
