Xepheus' brain-dead-easy fserv and xdcc pictorial guide!

Fserv Guide

Step 1:

Step 1

Okay, first step. To start getting files from fservs, go into a channel and type !list.
You will then get a "list" of "servers" you can get files from. Lets take the one circled as an example.

[04:50] -SaintServ|AF- [Fserve Active] - Triggers:[/ctcp SaintServ|AF FoR Archive & /ctcp SaintServ|AF ID1 Archive & /ctcp SaintServ|AF Inuyasha Eps] - Users:[0/5] - Sends:[5/5] - Queues:[18/20] - Record CPS:[424kB/s by Kitsu|work] - Message:[Flame of Recca Archive (20&21 up!), Initial D 1st Stage Archive (all eps), Inuyasha Eps.] - SysReset 2.53

First some explanations:
Users:[0/5] = How many people are browsing in the fserv at this time, if its 5/5 that means its full, so you have to wait for another time to get in.
Sends:[5/5] = This is the amount of sends this particular fserv can do, five. 5/5 means its currently full of sends and that brings us to queues.
Queues:[18/20] = How many people that have queued in the fserv. When all send slots are full, you're assigned a "queue" which means you are in line for a send slot. This particular one is at 18/20 which means there's 2 free queue slots.
Record CPS:[424kB/s by Kitsu|work] and Message: = you really dont need to know, just some extra info.
Triggers:[/ctcp SaintServ|AF FoR Archive & /ctcp SaintServ|AF ID1 Archive & /ctcp SaintServ|AF Inuyasha Eps] = Now this is the important part. Every "/ctcp <text>" is a trigger that will get you into an fserv, and the owner can choose whatever text he wants there, but it doesnt matter what it is, it's just words. This particular fserv has multiple triggers that will lead to multiple directories. So let's type that last trigger "/ctcp SaintServ|AF Inuyasha Eps" to see what happens.

Step 2:

Step 2

When you type that trigger, a separate window pops up (look at #1). If you click on it, you'll get the window shown in the picture.
To get a useful reference for fserv commands type "help" as shown in the picture (#2), you will get information on the different commands you can use inside an fserv.

Step 3:

Step 3

In this picture, #1 one of the commands used was "dir". From the "help" command we know that it lists all the contents in the directory (as shown).
For this example there are no directories just files, but if you run into an fserv that has folders just type "cd folder" to get into the folder and "cd .." to get out of the folder.
In #2, I typed get "[af-f&fgf]inuyasha 105[c9316fe9].avi". This is how you queue up a file you type "get" followed by the filename without the size numbers at the end of course.
As shown once you type that, you'll get a notice saying your file is added to the queue slot.

Step 4:

Step 4

Now another couple nifty commands are "sends" and "queues".
What these do is display a list of what users are getting files and what users are queued up for their files.
You can use these commads to find out what position queue you are in, whenever you want to.
As you can see, after typing the above "get command", I'm in queue # 20.
Also just a side note; when you've queued your file, you do NOT need to stay in the fserv for it to send. Just close that window (but stay in he channel) and you'll eventually get to the next step.

Step 5:

Step 5

Lastly, after some time you finally get a send! A window pops up like this and if you click on it you can see the information; what file you're getting, how big it is, who're you're getting it from and how fast its going.
When that bar gets to 100% you got your file! (Check your mirc options to see where your download folder is) Now that wasn't so hard was it? Congratulations on passing fserv101.

Xdcc Guide

Step 1:

Step 1

Okay first thing, ignoring whatever is on the middle of the screen first, check out the RIGHT side which lists all the users in the channel.
In #1 & #2, you can see the names af|SaintServ01 or InF|Nakamura for example.
In case you didn't know which ones are bots, i'll tell yu now! These are the bots!
Xdcc bots are usually named [channel initials] | [botname], so from example #1, af = animeforever and botname = saintserv01...
which their owner, AcridSaint decided to name em.
KEEP THIS IN MIND AND LOOK OUT FOR THESE! These "bots" are where you're gonna get xdcc sends from and these are the ONLY users in the channel you can message "xdcc list" to!

Step 2a:

Step 2a

There is a reason why this is "step 2a". Some xdcc bots WILL show up when you type !list such as these af|saintservs.
When you type !list or more directly !list <botname> or in this case !list af|saintserv, information such as "sends" and "queues" on the bot is shown and can be accessed this way, but in the end you'll still have to "xdcc list" the bot to see what files it has.

Step 2b:

Step 2b

This brings us to "step 2b" where you type "/msg <botname> xdcc list"
Just a side note: most channels say NO XDCC LIST, this only means to NOT type "xdcc list" in the main channel (because it lags the bots since it gives you a list from all the bots at once), hence in most channels you'll get banned from it.
But you can always /msg <botname> xdcc list... this is universal.
In this example I typed: "/msg af|saintserv01 xdcc list" and what it brought up is a list of information of how man sends slots are on the bot (8/10), its current speed (177.6KB/s) and all the files on the bots and what pack number they are on.
Also for the record, it also teaches people how to get a send if you look closely.

Step 3:

Step 3

Now as it even says in the list "To request a file type: "/msg aF|SaintServ01 xdcc send #x" and its not lying. So in this example I'll type "/msg aF\Saintserv01 xdcc send #5" (see #1) since I want to get Inuyasha 114.
Now right when I type that I get a notice from the bot "Sending you pack #5 ("Animeforever and FgF's InuYasha 114"), which is 224MB (resume supported)", this basically tells you that the bot is starting it's send to you.
On the top bar now, #3, you'll see that a window has popped up.

Step 4:

Step 4

Now if you click that window, you can see the same information; what file you're getting, how big it is, who're you're getting it from and how fast its going.
Again when that bar gets to 100% you got your file! (Check your mirc options to see where your download folder is). See XDCCs aren't hard at all!
They're very simple and easy to use, plus they're fast! Now use your newly gained knowledge and start leeching!
