Hung_Lo's Bittorrent Guide
Yes yes anybody that wants to do some leeching should not be without BITTORRENT.
Download it by googling bit torrent or searching for popular programs such as Bittorando, Azureus, and the experimental exeem.
Depending on what you are running, whether Windows/Mac/Linux/Bsd there is a bittorrent download for you.
Download the client and install it.
That's it! Now all you have to do is find internet sites that have links like http://anime.com/animefile.avi.torrent
The .torrent on the end makes it open up in the bittorrent client.
Simply click on the link you find from the internet.
Bittorrent will open and ask you to save the file on your computer. That's it!!!
How does Bittorrent work?
This ain't like your average p2p.
Unlike the previous p2p programs, Bittorrent seems to be the most effective at getting what you want and fast.
First of all Bittorrent divides the file into a million separate pieces (well I'm not really sure the exact number but you get the idea). This works great since it means LOTS of people can be uploading pieces to you at the same time! You'll notice that before you start downloading your hard drive already shows the full file in size, but don't be fooled it won't play! It won't play until you fully get 100% of the file (since it doesn't pull pieces in order but randomly in those million pieces).
Secondly, EVERYONE connected to the torrent is uploading, no matter how slow or fast.
Uploading what to who you ask? Well to other leechers! That's the beauty of Bittorrent and depending on how your connection is, you can potentially get up to great speeds!
Lastly, due to how things work, torrents only last for as long as there are SEEDS (people who are dedicated uploaders). Because of that, the life of a torrent is usually only about a week or so sadly, so it's easy to get NEW stuff but very hard to get OLD stuff from BT.
What's Seeding?
Seeding is a term used in Bittorrent that are basically your dedicated uploaders.
Seeders have 100% FULL file and are contantly uploading to leechers.
Leechers who obtain the full file become seeders automatically, hence most channels that support BT asks their loyal fans to keep their client up as long as possible.
Even though you may only upload at 15k/s its still a GREAT help to all other people trying to grab the file.
Besides, sharing is good, everyone loves to share, right? Right!
